The stability and security my backside deserves
Top notch. I was not expecting this level of quality on a mount that I got for under $20. I'm guessing the aluminum boat seat you attach this to would give out before this mount does. The rotation is build by some low friction plastic slide component instead of more traditional ball bearing. It seems like it will be reliable but that is only difference I see between this design and the 30 year old part I was replacing. Happy with the product. Will update if lake trials change that opinion.

Great quality and performance. Added a home-made PVC pipe wing nut tightener.
Very well made and attached to seat upper easily. Problem was Securing them to my small boat board seats. Very little clearance to hand tighten the sturdy wing nuts. And I have to take the seats off each time I transport my boat. Found internet solution and made a wing but tightener by cutting small notches in the end of a 12" length of 1" diameter PVC pipe. Now it's easy to slide the pipe notches over the wing nuts and twist to tighten. My hands dont get banged up and can tighten the seat mount much more securely.

Stays in place!
Strong, sturdy, works very well. Stays in place. Make yourself a tool with a piece of notched pipe (as shown in pics) to make the wingnuts easy to tighten. I used pvc pipe, cut a notch and drilled a hole for a screwdriver to tighten. Check wingnuts and tighten once or twice a week. Very happy with this purchase.

Love it!
Attwood delivers again! I love this clamp swivel! It easily mounts tight so that I don't worry about my seats blowing out of the boat at 70mph yet its super quick and easy to move around or remove. I have 3 of these and they last a long time (The oldest one is over 3 years old), I don't ever see replacing them no matter how much hard use I throw at them. At first the ball bearings are tight and don't swivel as easy as they do once broke in, but after a few uses they spin around easily and quietly even with 280 lb fishing buddies. Ive used "other" seat swivels and they chirped and squeaked every time you moved the slightest bit, and eventually the ball bearings started to fall out after about 1 year, But these Attwood swivels are heavy duty and quite.

All Metal!
This seat swivel is all metal, which makes it much more durable than the ones with plastic where the base contacts the boat you're mounting it to. It worked great for my fishing trip.

Pros and Cons for This Seat Mount
If you have a boat with only bench seats, then this mount is necessary. In fact, I was unable to find any other device to add a soft seat to the top of a bench closed at the sides (inflammable filling under seat). The concept of the mount is good, but tightening the four screws is an adventure. I have two seats with this mount in my 14' fishing boat. I am 230 pounds and my friend is 220 pounds. After rotating and sitting in these for 4 or 5 trips, I have found the mounts to loosen. And tightening all wing nuts is then necessary. And here is the real problem. The wing nuts are extremely hard to get to. I found a 3" wing nut drill bit that works on 2 of the 4 nut/bolt placements. But the other two are recessed more than 3". I have yet to find the exact tool for getting at ALL four wing nuts tightened securely. Directions for installation do not help. I have tightened my mounts to the point that there are permanent indentations in the seats themselves. I would like to know if there is ANY tool that could reach 5 or 6 inches beneath the mount in very close quarters. Even a needle-nosed pliers did not get it done. The purchase of the wing nut drill bit accessary is absolutely necessary to even come close to tightening the mounts to the bench seats. Thus a 3-star rating. Find the right tool for tightening, and this mount would easily get a 5-star rating.
