Amazing Value
This pedal is simply an awesome, classic sounding overdrive at the price it's at. I purchased it as a "what the hell' kind of thing just to see what a $30 dollar pedal can get you. After playing with it for a few weeks and finding my likes, and a couple small dislikes about it, I was completely sure in taking my boss sd-1 (a pedal that isn't boutique of course, but still twice the price) off my board and replacing it with this. This had more tonal character to me and maintained the original tone of the amp much better. This pedal is not a hard core distortion but even with the gain rolled all the way off it still adds a good amount of break up to a clean channel with guitar volume up all the way and medium to hard picking. That is probably something that isn't preferred by a blues guy looking for a really transparent overdrive, but it's not overbearing. Through a light crunch channel it gives a fair gain boost and a good amount of sustain, which I like, and through a more saturated crunch it gives a nice little kick more great classic rock lead tone. I also find this to be a really bright sounding pedal. With tone all the way down it still adds top end and takes away a little bottom end, which I don't like sometimes but, once again, it's not overbearing. All and all, I think it's great, and I don't think you'll find a better vintage od pedal at this price*UPDATE I take back what I said in here about it not being able to be transparent. I used a fender strat, ran this into a clean channel, and playing it in the out of phase positions gave the clean channel extra sparkle and still pretty much no break up :)

TS808 Tone at a reasonable price
I waited a few months before rating this pedal. I finally feel comfortable enough to say that it is an excellent overdrive pedal. It gets rave reviews because it sounds good. It claims to be a clone of an Ibanez TS808 and to sound like it. I must agree that it sounds good and sound wise approximates the legendary TS808. It is well made and seems sturdy. The only weakness that I can see with a pedal like this is the low quality ribbon cable that connects the switch PCB to the main PCB. The low quality ribbon cable is lightly soldered and can easily break. It is held in place with some type of silicon or epoxy. But overall the parts it is made from are of good quality and the construction method is solid. The casing is metal and seems strong enough. The main thing is the sound and it sounds like pedals that are six times more expensive. This is where it shines, in the sound and price. This pedal will stay on my pedalboard and I do not see any reason why to buy a more expensive overdrive, when this pedal sounds so good. Get it, but make sure that you get it from a vendor that backs up their products. Many Chinese pedals tend to suffer from quality consistency and while many great pedals get through, some bad ones also get through. I am speaking from experience since I have purchased Joyo pedals that were faulty from new and had to return them, but this is not always the case and when you get a good one it is a keeper. If the Chinese pedal companies improve their quality consistency they will be extremely successful with their clones. I recommend this pedal.

Unbelievable pedal for the price
When opening the box I pulled the pedal out it well exceeded the quality I expected from a 35 dollar pedal. The knobs turn well, the casing is heavy, It just felt good. The switch is definitely cheap. you can hear an audible click when it turns on but replacing the switch isn't a huge deal and since it's just a lighter overdrive, you likely aren't going to be turning it on and off. Now, The plugged in details... The Overdrive is very expressive. as you turn the volume up, it gets louder but doesn't really change the sound. The drive knob has plenty of functionality. It sort of caps out the grit around 12 o'clock but the rest of the pot really shapes the tone. I kept mine pretty low and really dug the tones. The tone Knob has a wide spectrum but the treble end of it is pretty unusable and the bass and is not very bassy. I set it pretty low and it was a very clear and defined tone. You're not going to get any bass-ey tones out of it but it definitely thickens up your sound... As for the treble, you can crank it all the way over and it's going to sound like a chicken' picken' players dream, but to the rest of us it's going to sound very harsh.I run a Walrus audio mayflower on my main board and I AB'd them together. You're obviously going to see a noticeable difference in quality between the two in an isolated environment but I think most of the differences would be lost when you got it up to gig volumes.Overall, Great pedal, Can't believe how much value you get for the price.

TUBESCREAMER HEAVEN
This really is a great stompbox. I was very surprised by the build quality, it feels very solid and rugged. I tested out a Ibanez ts808 and realized it was the sound I was looking for versus my mxr Distortion Plus. Before purchasing I came across the article that mentioned this pedal as a great alternative so a leap and tried it and I'm glad that I did... Tones are nearly identical when played with the same guitar and amp. The only small gripe I have about this product is that the space where you would put your battery is kind of tight as it literally sits right up next to the circuit board, but that's not a huge deal if you are using a power supply on a pedal board anyway like I do. This thing does a great job at boosting those mid-tones and it's great to use as a boost pedal stacked or alone pushing a Tube amplifier into break up. I like to use it with my amplifier game already cranked with the pedal volume high and the little gain at about 9 o'clock. Well if you play with a solid-state amp don't worry, this pedal sounds absolutely fantastic with solid-state as well.

Decent pedal.
Excellent product at an excellent price. We don't use overdrive much so just needed something simple and budget friendly. The local stores kept trying to sell us a similar pedal for $200 but that was overkill. This Joyo pedal fit the bill, in all senses of the word, perfectly. Lots of fun to play with.

Great for the price
Basically, in a nut shell for thirty quid this pedal is greatAfter reading the praise others gave it on here, I bought it mainly out of curiosity as I don't have a tube screamer-esque pedal, and mainly use an EH Big Muff as my main drive/fuzz.I'm a big fan of EHX but I was looking for something with a bit more clarity than the Big Muff , but on a budget and am so glad I bought this pedal. I play through a Fender Hotrod deluxe and mainly use a Fender Jazzmaster / Gretch Double Jet and the tone is great. At the lowest setting, this gives a lovely clean boost with the feel of slightly overdriven tubes, but it can get nice and noisy with decent tonal clarity.I personally think this is great for the money - the only thing I can really say is a negative is the look of it - I think the text looks quite cheap . . . but the feel is very nice - pretty sturdy.I dig the green and yellowRoss
