big bag, stands up on its own, high quality
Size-wise, the description says 31 liters (31L). That's about a cubic foot, and a quick check with a tape measure shows it's pretty close to that. The bag stands up on its own. It has two layers of fabric, with padding in between them. I got the black bag, but it's lined on the inside with smooth silver fabric. (Yes, there's a silver lining.) The padding means the bag stands up on its own when empty. The lining covers five of the six sides of the interior, and the two front pockets. For some reason, the left side of the interior isn't lined. The padding layer covers four of the six side of the interior, leaving out the left and right ends. That makes sense, especially since the right end is where the shoe bag comes in.The padded bottom of the bag is hinged in the middle, so the bag can fold flat. Unlike some bags, there's no removable "floor" in this bag, it's all one piece. It like this design, since there's no place for small items to go and hide. The silver lining also makes it easy to see where things are.Aside from the shoe compartment, there's a single wet pocket, which you access through a zipper above the front pockets. It's made of clear vinyl, kind of like what you'd find in a pool toy. The wet pocket is on the small side, big enough for a swimsuit or wet running clothes, but not really enough room for a towel. I turn the bag inside out and wipe it off after use. The vinyl sticks to itself a little, but that's not really an issue so far.In addition to the two zippered front pockets, the outside has double mesh pockets on the left end, good for holding water bottles. There's a single mesh pocket on the right end. The right end unzips on three sides to give access to the shoe bag.I haven't used the shoe bag yet, but it's pretty large. I think my hiking boots would fit easily, but not ski boots. Of course anything that goes in the shoe bag subtracts from the interior space. There's also a outside pocket across the back with just a small velcro closure in the middle, and a smaller zipper pocket across the back on the inside. And the inevitable key holder on the inside.Overall, a very nice bag, with high quality material, zippers, and stitching. Really a nice surprise, great value overall.

Perfect Medium Sized Crossfit Bag
This review is written by my wife: "I searched a long time for the perfect bag: I needed to have enough pockets that are easily accessible, with a shoe compartment, but that is still roomy when there are shoes in the compartment. This bag is perfect! I use it for Crossfit. I have only been using it for the past week, so I do not know how durable it is yet, although it seems to be well made. I was concerned about getting a brand I'd never heard of, but it had good ratings and all the other things I was looking for.It has two outer pockets--I use one for snacks and the other for hair accessories. Two mesh pockets on the end - I use one for my water bottle and the other for my sunglasses. Behind this is a zippered compartment with two more mesh pockets! I use one for sunscreen and the other for medical tape, lip balm, travel Lysol, etc.On the other end of the bag is a mesh pocket that I put sundries in like my swim mp4 player, massage ball & small towel. When you unzip behind this is the shoe compartment. On the front of the bag positioned above the two outer pockets mentioned earlier, is a zippered compartment that is waterproof and see-through. I put all kinds of small stuff in here that used to knock about so I can see them right away. The inside compartment is roomy enough that I have a towel, exercise pants AND my knapsack full of clothes (I take it out to change clothes at work). Inside this middle section is yet another interior zippered pocket. As if that is not enough, I discovered another compartment on the back of the bag that has a velcro closure. I use this for my wrist bands, grips and jump rope. The bag fits everything without being huge or cumbersome. My only complaint is that it doesn't come in purple or dark grey. I went with black, because the blue looks like it's way too bright and the red has white edges which will become filthy-looking from the Crossfit box floor.

Many Improvements and Good Value
I have used the previous version of this gym bag for over a year 3-5x/week and bought this newer (crowd-sourced?) design or version because of the price, compartments, size, and because they corrected some notable design problems. Who would have thought that having only one zipper on the end compartments would be SUCH a hassle? Well someone did, because the new version has double zippers on both end compartments, saving things from falling out and saving the shoulder strap from getting in the way of zipping up either compartment. The addition of the dry storage pouch is an improvement, along with the non-floating inner side pocket. Three things could be better: 1) the shoulder straps are connected to the bag in both versions at the ends, so that the strap can still get caught up with and interfere with zipping the end compartments. I recommend connecting the straps to the bag at the seam between the end compartments and the main compartment to correct this. 2) The long thin side compartment on the back side is closed with a 2-inch stretch of velcro only. This bagan to fail in my old bag causing that compartment to fall open when carrying the bag over my shoulder. I rarely used that compartment to begin with, but the addition of more velcro would help a lot here. 3) This newer version of the bag is made with a sort of rip-stop nylon with a reinforced bottom that is an improvement on the last version, but just a little more thickness would give the bag a more substantial feel and look. As it is, you can't beat the value for the price, and I use mine for more than just going to the gym, so I am pretty damn happy with it -- though the improvements I mention would make it 5 stars for me instead of the 4 I am giving it now! Cheers and Peace Out....
