Cheap stitching
I loved this light weight comforter but I've only had it for a month and the stitching is unraveling. I haven't even washed it yet. I am super disappointed as I wouldn't expect something in this price point to fall apart like this.

Mission Allergy is the way to go if you're suffering, but the colors and design aren't great.
Mission Allergy has the lowest micron knit (as opposed to plastic-backed) allergy encasements in the business. They are also breathable and soft. The "premium" versions have the lowest micron count of all their barriers. I would recommend these to everyone. This comforter is made with the same "premium" allergy barrier, so barring tears in the fabric, it will be impossible for dust mites to colonize your comforter. This means that you will only need to wipe your comforter down now and then to remove surface dust and wash it when soiled or when there's an accumulation of finer allergens that bother you. (If your windows are sometimes open, outdoor allergens will accumulate in your bedding. And it is possible for some smaller molds to pass through and colonize as well, so keep your humidity down, and otherwise be smart on that front. But lowering your "overflowing bucket" of immune triggers can only be positive for all your allergies.)Now for the bad. If you've ever owned a fluffy comforter in a nice duvet cover, then it will be very hard to make the switch to these clinical-looking thin comforters with a rather awful color selection. Also the fact that these are so thin, instead of making them lay longer over the sides of your mattress, make the length dimensions seem even smaller. I ended up returning an unused queen and getting a king to use on my queen bed. I just tuck any excess in the corners behind the post. Additionally, the natural color is a yellowish/orangey beige which I did not find to be nearly as neutral as I had hoped, but I adjusted some things in the room to make the color blend better. As for the lightweight: I have always needed lightweight comforters because I run very hot. I always buy the lightest weight fiberfill I can find and swelter otherwise. I just add blankets beneath in the winter. That said, this lightweight is basically too lightweight for me. I imagine it is still what I need versus their other weight, but I have to adjust what other covers I am using. And it is very, very thin, more like a coverlet.I did have some quality control issues with the comforters--something that has never popped up with my several prior Mission Allergy purchases. But the company is great about any issues.

I should have purchased this years ago!
My Mom gets allergy shots, and picked one of these up after having seen a brochure in a doctors office years ago. I've always liked it, but never had the money for it until now. For polyester (plastic) fabric, it's super soft, breathable, and all around a great investment.
