Ultimate Hollywood Cinema Collector's Edition Gift Box Set

I get movies threw tgg direct LLC . they very good movies . I well buy this set . so I advice to people other buy the dvd set . and I have movies threw alpha . they gret movies . anybody else ask them . do they own alpha video's

When I think of great Hollywood Movies, I remember the wonderful movies I first saw in a theater, not made for TV movies. This set is about 25% Made for TV movies and pilots/episodes of TV shows. This set is made up of 4 sets of discs, each set containing 12-20 movies. One set (entitled Life, Love and Romance) are, without exception, all made for TV movies.Add to that three movies that are duplicated on different discs and your already starting behind.If the quality of the movies were actually watchable, I might forgive all the TV stuff., but when you cram up to 9 full length movies onto a single disk, the quality has to suffer. There are some excellent and classic titles in this collection, but the quality is simply horrendous. I know older movies can look worse than newer movies, but I have gotten several of the Mill Creek sets with movies from similar ages and they are still watchable. Many in this collection, even some of the more recent films, are simply terrible reproductions.Granted, I spent less than $11 for this collection, but if I had it to do over again, I probably wouldn't have bothered with this collection.Looking through the other reviews I notice many comments about "movies I never heard of". I am probably older than most of you, and many of these old movies are worth watching, just not, unfortunately, with the quality of this collection.There were several stars listed in the description of this set, Humphrey Bogart being one of them. I have been combing the titles and, perhaps I'm missing the obvious, but if anyone has noticed the Bogart feature, please leave me a comment and let me know which of these movies he is in!

I must have miss read something. I thought they were all old Hollywood movies (50's/60s and earlier), but some are more recent. I only like old movies so I was a little disappointed, but that's just a personal preference. Still a good buy for the price.

Quite a few of these movies are obscure, but still a pretty good purchase for the price. I understand that it would take effort, but listings of Collector's Editions' contents would truly help when choosing the right collections to buy.

some films are not focused well enough to enjoy them.. if only you could see, it wouldbe a fantastic box.

As might be assumed from the price for the 60 movies included (actually 62 movies on ten discs in the product I received) they are from public domain sources of not very good quality. By way of comparison, the older films are poorer quality than their Alpha Video counterparts, which are themselves only average. The older ones are packed up to eight movies per side, shortened in length and apparently digitally compressed to fit, even using dual-layer recording. Better viewing of these movies is available on any of the TV movie channels. Even the newer ones from the 70's and 80's are not good quality. I would only buy this pack to obtain the rarer titles included (few of them are critically rated better than two stars, however). Particularly disappointing are the very old ones (Vanity Fair with Myrna Loy, etc.), which are barely watchable.

Made for TV movies, terrible reproduction, absolutely not worth any amount of money.

Same movie on different disk - the disks were sold as a package. printing job and color were worst job you can get. DVD Quality not yet known has to watch later and review. Should never count same movie again and again!Just started watching 1st movie from dvd, very poor quality in every way, from the quality of the disk , color ,sound ,material used were totally lowest you can get! Bottom of the bottom!What a fool am I to waste my money!One of the movies on the disk was copied from 1953 ABC television network including commercials on 'new' 1953 Plymouth cars. These were not edited out. Is this legal?

This set has some really good old movies but it also has a lot of what I call 'made for TV type movies. The picture quality is rather poor, definitely not HD. I'm still happy to have purchased it if just for the sheer number of movies at less than a dollar each.

Great value lots of entertaining movies , I've watched about 10 so far and enjoyed most.whatched them all through.

Very promising because of the lavish box but frankly not worth much : very few complete movies, a lot of bad copies, many movies consist of half the movie or less......It's the first time I'm so very disappointed. i
