Good Uke depending on Price Point
This is a hard review to write. So to start off this is a sub brand of the parent company Kanile'a, which makes high quality and very expensive ukulele's. The Islander series is meant to be a more affordable line, with the same quality that Kanile'a is known for. These are built in China though, not Hawaii as the original Kanile'a Ukes are. I will say that it is well built and attractive, but with flaws. I ended up buying one and returning it for the same item in hopes that I would get a better manufactured instrument. The replacement item did arrive without the same flaws as the first one but had others.I will go over the bad then the good. My first Uke arrived with a noticeable flaw in the white binding, the nut was too high on the C string and needed to be filed as the sustain on that string was much longer than the others, And the tuners had chipped and worn marks on them. The second replacement Uke has a very small flaw on the neck, and the back of the Uke had light scuffs. But other than that I have not found anything else. The good is that the instrument is very playable, the tone is warm and the sustain is near perfect. It is good looking and well made for the most part, minus the small flaws I went over. I will add this one to my collection and enjoy playing it often. But here is the sticking point...PRICE!!I bought this while on a musical instrument sale that Amazon was having. The total out the door price was under 100.00 which for this ukulele was a pretty decent deal. I've seen the price jump on this item to over 200.00 though and I can not in good faith recommend this Uke to anyone for that amount. But for somewhere near the 100.00 mark its a good buy. I hope the seller gets the price point down to something reasonable and keeps it there. I think they would do well selling them. So in short if you don't pay too much then its a good Ukulele. But for 200.00 or anywhere close to there....keep shopping.

Islander RWSPC-4G Ukulele by Kanilea
I may have already reviewed this uke. It's a good one! What I like is not only the build, materials, and sound, but as with all Kanilea products, it has a 1-1/2" nut--for larger fingers, or those that prefer a little more room for chording. The fact that it is backed by Kanilea was a major decision to buy this instrument; one of the big K's in Hawaii. I have one of their K1 Tenors, so I thought I'd see what this Islander concert was all about. I was not disappointed.
