Fel-ProHS 26223 PT-1 Head Gasket Set

Awesome Kit. Quality product you can see right out of the box. Head gasket is amazing and for as it should. Valve cover gasket seal was excellent, and I liked that they are colored blue, which made it easy to see how well aligned it was once reinstalling the head and cover.The valve seals were the main reason I bought this kit and they didn’t disappoint. After a couple months and a couple thousand miles ,no more smoke!I have a 2.2 ECOtec in an 03 Saturn Ion that was leaking oil on BOTH the intake and exhaust valve seals at times. It had issues after long idle times, like at a stoplight or traffic jams, where when I would step on the gas, it would puff out blue smoke. These were the intake valve seals needing replacement. I had a lot of white smoke (occasionally, but not every time) after longer idles as well. I particularly recall an instance where I waited in a Drive thru for what seemed like forever for my #1 Big Mac, then created a HUGE cloud of white smoke when I drive out of the parking lot. It was impressive. Like a James Bond getaway smokescreen or something... in my rear view I couldn’t see any traffic beyond the cloud. That problem was with the Exhaust Valve seals.This being the first time I had taken on this type of job, I wanted to make sure I did my homework. I could have fixed the valve seals without taking off the head and this replacing the head gasket, but the project was simpler with the head removed, and I took the step of lapping the valves, which I could see didn’t seal great anymore.If your doing this job on the ECOtec engine, make sure to get the front cover seal, as well as new head bolts, which Felpro makes nice product for as well. And do take the time to change the timing chain with the new tensioner, I’m on my 3rd set of those...
