Scubapro Twin Jet Max Open Heel Split Fins, BK-XL

These fins arrived today and were packaged well. They look very nice. I was excited to receive them as I have a trip I am leaving on in a couple days. So I opened the mesh sack the fins came in and took them out to try them on. Right away I noticed the back part that is supposed to secure the heel was about two inches from my heel when the foot was inserted. I was a size 14 and these are listed as XL (11-13). I ordered because a 13 would be a nice snug fit. I looked for some way to tension the heel, and looked in the instructions where it said there was a button and way to adjust these. Obviously the instructions were for a model they must have had with a strap, and the buckles have a slot, but these have a spring mechanism....with no ability to adjust or tension them. I went back to the fins and in despair thought well maybe with some booties they would fit. But again there was far far too much slack and even with booties these will not fit. I have to say I am very dissapointed. I understand there is slight variance in size but this is very POOR Quality Control. Something listed in a range of 11-13 should not be slack for someone with a 14 size foot. I'm not sure if their is wide variance in the same XL, but looking back at the reviews, I should have read more of them carefully. Now I'm leaving on my trip without fins and had to run back to return them. For the price....over 200 all things considered....I'd expect more. I considered ordering a size down but don't know what I'd get.....it's too bad because they look good otherwise and as if they would generate a lot of power. Sadly, I will not get a chance to know. Hopefully with all the feedback similar to mine they will remedy this.
