good summary of the history
This is a quick and easy read. It spends the first half on the history and politics of approving a design, then the rest on the actual design and construction of the bridge. The illustrations are odd but attractive; kind of a mix of cartoon and fine art, no photos. As an engineer, I would have liked to know more about the design aspects, but understand that those don't interest most people.

Beautiful drawings and interesting history
If you are a lover of bridges or live in the SF Bay Area and what to have a book to show friends, this is a good book with references. No photographs, but the drawings are first rate. You do not miss having photographs in the book.

Buy this book and get the full story
A terrific story, well told. Donald MacDonald really brings the full story alive with a wonderful history, and in depth analysis of why the Bay Bridge's design is so amazing. The illustrations are vivid and provide great insights.
