David Jones is an internationally known vocal pedagogue who teaches the Swedish-Italian School of Voice Training in New York, London, Paris, Geneva, Berlin, and San Francisco. He studied with the famous vocal teacher Alan Lindquest who studied this school of training in Stockholm in 1938 and 1939. Lindquest passed on his knowledge about this school of training that he received from Joseph Hislop, teacher of Jussi Bjoerling, and Ingebjart Isene, teacher of Kirsten Flagstad. David Jones has taught singers in every style from Rock to Pop to Opera. In the Classical genre, Maestro Jones has taught singers who perform in major concert halls and opera houses internationlly including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Philharmonie Hall in Berlin, Avery Fischer and Alice Tully Halls at Lincoln Center in New York, the Metropolitan Opera, the San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, the Berlin Staatsoper, Vienna Staatsoper, Covent Garden Opera House, Nederlandse Operastichting in Amsterdam, the Glyndebourne Opera Festival, Hamburg Opera, Zuruck Opera and La Scala. Today, David Jones teaches the Swedish-Italian School internationlly and travels extensively teaching professional singers and teachers about a vocal technique that is so healthy that it has been known to assist in healing vocal damage. Practical, practicable.
The dual CD do not look one bit enticing, unless you are a voice afficionado.You may pay thousands of tuition fees; this set does not save you the money.What this set saves you is the frustration, the upsets, the hopelessness (after paying for so many already, yet still NOT quite there...).You've got to have a proper, and good, voice coach, before you would be able to understand the tricks or basics of Mr. Jones. He does not TEACH the basics: he simply reinforces them, after your own coach pointed out to you what you should do to achieve the goals with your voice.The thing is - Jones' methodology is the 'trouble-shooter', not the 'starter'. Unless you got fully started, this set is useless to you.As trouble-shooter, I heartily recommend this as an aid to singers: if you don't know 'where is the head voice', this CD shows you. If you don't know how to create that inner tube requisite for singing, this CD assists you.If you don't know why your breath always run out and not got connected properly, this CD shows you how to connect it.No theorisation, purely practical.The Flagstad methodology is fully, truly, valid for singers - myself can attest this. My own tongue root problem got immediately lifted with Jones' advices.Quite miraculous - it is!

I love this. Love. From the posture exercises (amazing, and I'm supposed to have pretty good posture to start with) to the breathing (brilliant) to the singing exercises. I'm not even a professional singer like his students, I just love the ease and the overtones these lessons are bringing out in my voice. As we all know, singing is good for you and makes you feel good, and these are making me sing gooder.David Jones's own teachers are, among others, Lindquest (Flagstad's teacher) and the legendary Evelyn Reynolds.Did I say I love it.

Introductory Lesson
David Jones is an amazing voice teacher who is caring and concerned for the singers of today. He uses a mix of two wonderful technical schools in his methodology. I have learned more from his CD than many years of study. It will help enhance my own teaching methods.

Meh
The guy obviously can't sing, so he teaches. But what does he teach if he doesn't play the instrument? Hence, a plague upon the entire vocal industry. And true principles of vocal art remain unattainable by the vast number of desperate artists.
