Easy to use
Easy to use, makes nice lattes, cappuccinos and macchiatos. My main issue is the temperature of the drink. It maxed out at 140F and that was a little on the cool side for me. The espresso shots are hotter but the milk cools everything down. I prefer a hotter drink so i can enjoy it for longer, so I am not in love with the idea of microwaving my latte. This may be headed back to Italy. Note: This machine does not make american style coffee.

DONT WASTE YOUR $$$$$
The following is a honest an accurate account of my experience with the Delonghi Magnifica S.When I opened the box for my NEW Magnifica S, I quickly noticed it had a big gouge on the front of it. Considering the unit was close to $2000 Canadian, no consumer would be happy receiving a damaged unit. Yet Delonghi acted like they were doing me a FAVOUR by exchanging it for an undamaged unit.Unfortunately, this was a sign of things to come ! From the time it was plugged in and I began making coffee, the Magnifica S was problem ridden. Each time a coffee was made, the "Empty Grounds Container" would beep. The owners manual said that the grounds bin only needs to be emptied every 14 singles or 7 doubles. Take it from me, its gets old fast having to empty the grounds bin after each use ! I contacted Delonghi service numerous times. Delonghi tried to reset the counter etc and I was instructed to only empty the grounds bin when the unit was on. However, nothing resolved the issue. The Delonghi S while doing a good job frothing milk for Latte's, it made weak coffee. When I called Delonghi, I was told by customer support to change the grounds setting, which turned out to be very poor advice. Despite numerous calls to Delonghi, the unit continued to make weak coffee. Despite all the issues with the Magnifica S, Delonghi never once offered to replace the unit or have it sent in for service. When the Magnifica S was about a year old, new problems raised their ugly head. When making a coffee, the unit would grind the beans and then not deliver coffee. Instead of delivering the coffee after grinding the beans, it would beep and instruct you to add beans to the hopper. However, there were beans in the hopper. Each time this happened, expensive Espresso beans were wasted. The Magnifica S gets very expensive to operate when you are wasting beans !!! This continued to happen more and more. When I called Delonghi I was given the following excuses:1. Beans are too Oily.2. Only put a small amount of Beans in the hopper.3. The beans are different in size Come on of course they are all not the same size. Pathetic !!!Bottom line, I heard every excuse except the water was too wet LOL.Finally, Delonghi offered to send the unit in for service. When it was returned weeks later, the letter from the service tech said there was an emergency line leaking. THis was the reason for the weak Espresso as well as having to empty the grounds contained each time.To the service tech's credit, he did fix the empty grounds contained issue. I could now make 6-7 espresso's without having to empty the bin each time. However, it only made a good espresso 1 out of every 3-4 times. So if you like weak espresso and wasting $$$ this is the machine for you. As for the machine grinding beans and not delivering the coffee, aka wasting beans; the problem got worse not better. It got to the point it was cheaper for me to go to Starbucks and buy coffee for everyone rather than try to make coffee at home !Delonghi never takes any responsibility for the product. It is always the consumers fault or the beans fault but never Delonghi's fault. When I went on to review sites I seen a # of Delonghi customers with the same problem. Obviously there is a design flaw with the hopper. My recommendation would be to buy anything but a Delonghi. The Magnifica S makes terrible espresso, often with no crema and wastes a lot of beans, aka $$$. Delonghi's customer service stinks !!! Check other review sites and you will see confirmation of this. While the unit is covered by warranty, Delonghi never offers to have it sent in to service. When it is out of Warranty Delonghi has no issues with advising you of this. Finally, when I contacted Delonghi and asked for a REFUND, I received a threatening letter from their lawyer. Take it from me, DONT WASTE YOURE $$$$ ON DELONGHI !!!
