Great Paper to Practice Pastels With
Canson Mi-Tientes black pastel paper is a low cost way to practice pastel work. There are two sides to each piece; smooth and textured. The paper is 90 lbs which isn't that thick, but it does well with blending and takes a good number of layers. You have to use a fixative spay if you plan on keeping your works. I'm pretty new to pastels so this paper is great for me.

Still My Favorite Paper
I've been practicing with pastel pencils and soft sticks this past winter, and I bought this paper just to start out. I've since tried both sanded and velour papers, but the Canson Mi-Tientes is still my favorite. Love the tooth on it; it takes many layers of pigment and is sturdy and frameable. I'll be sticking with this paper for the duration! Highly recommend. "Sea Rose" 9x12 Pastel Pencils and Soft Sticks.

Good Paper But Bad Delivery
I haven't used the paper yet, but I've used similar and believe it will be good for soft pastels. However, I gave it 4 stars because one of the papers was folded, and thus destroyed. It should have been check before it was sent to me.

Love this paper
I bought two and hand sewed and bound them into a sketchbook. I love the that it's tinted since I don't like drawing or painting on white paper, and the paper holds up well when using colored pencil, oil pastel, acrylics, and gouache. I like that it has a slight canvas-like texture. There's no other paper that I would recommend more for pencil and pastel drawing.

Nice paper- each piece is a different shade of gray!
Great paper for my oil pastels. I love the 'toothyness' of the paper which allows for multiple color layers to grip on to. The paper is a heavier weight and I like that. No Buckling! The pad comes with about 8 different shades of gray. Starting at the back to the very front page the colors run light to dark. Light being the furthest away and dark is the very first page when opened. The different shades of gray threw me for a loop at first as I thought it was all the same shade of gray. I was at first upset but now I actually like it and will use the shades for different types of drawings. You can see my first drawing attached to this review!
