Way Better Than Expected โ Very Nice Unit
Bought this over a month ago to field trial before giving as Christmas gift to daughter (wants to bird watch and duck hunt with dad). Am pleasantly surprised at the quality and performance. As an outdoorsman I have very high-end optics (Zeiss, Leupold, Nikon) so I know good optic performance. While I canโt speak to ruggedness or endurance of this Aurosports monocular (only time will tell), I will attest to its optical performance. It is bright and crisp throughout itโs power range. There is a bit of minor bleeding or blur (some may not even notice) at extreme outer edges of scope but I donโt find that to be a problem since object in view will most always be centered. This is just a NICE. LITTLE. UNIT. I saw some reviews with questions/confusion about ability to focus and effective use on targets close-in. The unit DOES focus, just learn how. (Think: retractable telescopic โpirate scopeโ and youโll figure it out.) And it will handle targets as close as 6-7 yards in (10x). And 30x max zoom is just as clear (note at 30x youโll need surgeon-stable hands or a tripod to stabilize). Donโt get your heart set on perfect directions, they lack. Christmas morning I had both my 20-something kids try the scope, independently, no directions. They both figured out how to extend, adjust 10x-30x power, and focus. Ok, they didnโt notice the eye cup. But thatโs just an option to use or not (rotates CCW to extend the eye cup). They both used binoculars before so those basics of use apply here as well. And....was a factor in their ability to quickly figure-out the unit. This unit is more than worth the price. Iโd buy it again without hesitation.

Great scope, my complaint is the carry pouch.
Great scope - poor quality carry bag. I love the compact size and portability of the scope, but after wearing on my belt, the attachment quickly tears. Currently searching for some kind of a more robust carry method.

10/10 for the price
I bought this for backpacking because itโs half the size and half the weight of regular binoculars. Itโs not nothing Iโm gonna hand down to my grandkids. But it is built very well for its price and I feel like Iโll get a good couple years of use out of it. The zoom works great. The focus takes a good couple turns to get it into focus, but works beautifully and I can read license plates 15 houses away. So I think it does everything it promised and a little bit more. Very compact very light reasonably sturdy decent clarity of optics 10 out of 10 would buy it again.

Excelllent Monocular
I was looking for a compact and affordable monocular that featured a decent zoom for various water and hunting activities along with my larger and heavier binoculars. Sometimes, a smaller "scope" is all you need instead of the big bulky binoculars. I found this one by Aurosports with10-30x40 zoom in my search on Amazon for a relatively decent price. After reading through the mostly positive reviews and a smattering of low ratings and reviews, I decided to take a chance on it, and I am so glad I did. I have found this monocular to be of excellent quality and value, and I am very pleased with my purchase. It comes with a cloth carry pouch, a small lanyard, and a lens cleaning cloth. Positive points: It has good weight to it and has rubberized non-slip grips. The size is surprisingly compact and will fit in backpacks, rucksacks and jacket pockets quite nicely. The zoom and twisting focus actions are silent and smooth. Focus is crisp and easy hone in on. You do lose a small amount of focus when zooming, but all you have to do is give it a little turn and focus back into perfection for a clear, sharp picture.. I was able to focus and zoom on objects as close as 7 feet, and as far as the moon. The zoom is amazingly bright at the higher power, which is helpful when using it in the shadows of woods or at dusk. The zoom on the moon was perfect enough that I could clearly see some of the craters that are normally too small to see with the naked eye. I was also able to read the street sign about a quarter of a mile away with no problem. The 40mm lens is large enough to allow light through, and I had no trouble seeing my target at dusk. The lens caps fit securely and will not fall off. The matte black and rubber coated exterior does not reflect light, although the lens might reflect some, but it is minimal. I do not anticipate it being an issue while deer hunting. It can be mounted to a tripod or camera, and the screw hold is bored smooth, and is standard size. The piece feels very stable, and the craftsmanship feels spot-on. There is no interior noise from the mechanics of the monocular or the lenses. Everything feels very securely fitted into place. It is advertised as fog free and waterproof. I took it outside on a very cold night, and straight from the warmth of my home and it did not fog up. As far as being waterproof, well, I'm not going to use it in the rain or dunk it in a river to find out. Cons: The lens caps are not tethered to the monocular and could easily be left behind or dropped and lost. At 30x zoom, it may be difficult for some to hold it steady without a tripod. The string lanyard is thin and does not feel trustworthy enough to wrap around anything to carry or hold. I'll probably replace it at some point with a sturdier one. The fabric pouch is thin, and I anticipate it not lasting long (but that's what those spare Crown royal Bags are used for, right?) ____ All in all, this is a great purchase that I am very happy with. I will definitely purchase a second one if I happen to lose or break this one, and I may even purchase a couple more to use as gifts.

Bad on so many levels
I buy things with the simple expectation they work. Maybe they don't work as well as I might want, but at a minimum, the item should work out-of-the-box. Issue-1: Target Focus Unfortunately, I was unable to get it to focus at all. Meaning focus on the target object. Even when the object is more than 50 feet away. Yes ... I DID read the instructions (not that I needed to). If this is because of a defect from the factory, that is an unacceptable failure. Others have also noted this problem. This means poor QC as far as I am concerned. Issue-2: Eye-cup The eye-cup is simply too loose and is guaranteed to change when putting the optic into and taking it out-of the case or back-pack. It is so loose that you will likely change the eye-cup focus most of the time you try to get it and especially if you try to manipulate it with one hand only (e.g. take it out of the case). This means you will have to adjust it EVERY time. No way to quickly use it to check-out something without having to fuss with it. Issue-3: Focus Operation This is the most backward focus operation. On virtually every decent optic (even the cheap ones), focus is done using a focus ring (i.e. circular ring). Traditional SLRs use this same method. While Zoom is done on some lenses using a push/pull approach. This optic uses a push/pull method to focus. This means it will NEVER be in-focus (or at least the focus you set it on) the next time you pick it up to use it. I do not like to waste time. I buy items with the expectation they are functional. I have learned my lesson and will take the time to read the operational details more carefully to ensure the item at least behaves 'normally'.

Useful and portable
When I first took the unit for a test drive, I thought it was incapable of focusing on anything. No matter how I turned this or that, nothing came close to focusing. i finally consulted the instruction sheet, and figured out that the unit has to be extended to its full length before the focus controls work. Ah. Not the most intuitive design, I suppose, but that feature does make it more compact. The optical quality isn't the greatest, but it's good enough to read road signs maybe a mile away. Zooming in really narrows the field of focus, which is pretty much just a fact of how physics impacts optics, but the image quality at full zoom is still pretty much as good as it is at the lowest magnification. The image is good enough to be useful across the entire range of focus distances and magnifications. I'm sure there are better optics out there, but this wins a lot of points for being compact and portable. I bought this, because I found myself wishing I had brought my binoculars on too many occasions. I don't strap on my binoculars out of habit, because it's a big chunk of weight dangling from my neck, and slapping into my chest all day. This thing solves the problem of "I want to see that far away thing better" while being compact enough that I can just strap it on as a routine part of my hiking kit, whether I plan to use it or not. I've been using the unit with the included belt pouch. The pouch does the job, but the lower lens cover always comes off, and gets stuck in the pouch. I have to expend a little energy fumbling around to fish it out when it's time to put the cap back on. It's a minor complaint. After spending some time in the field with the thing, I'll admit I found myself wishing for a better monocular. I came back here to look at what I could get if I spent a little more money. I don't see anything for up to five times the price that I think would serve me better, so there you go. It was a good purchase!

Compact Zoom Monocular with all the Bells and Whistle.
Compact but super powerful crystal clear view monocular for a serious hiker or an outdoor adventure seeker. For me it's always important to have handy binocular or monocular close by for exception viewing of nature and our oceans and mountains. Also great for birdwatching and sporting events. Aurosports out did it with this very affordable monocular here. This is 10-30x40 means you can not just view the object bright and clear but also use the zoom feature. With my years of experiences with binoculars / monoculars I would like to suggest that if you go above anything more than seven power than it's better to use a tripod. Most people blame monocular but it's actually their hands /body movement (nothing wrong with the product) This monocular comes with tripod screw excellent built in feature. Please see all my pictures and decide it yourself. Also I would like to point the fact that the objective lens is 40mm with a perfect 20mm ocular lens. Even when sun goes down you can have wonderful views because of the larger size of the Objective lens. It will take few times to get use to open the monocular perfectly but it is expected from such a wonderful product. Enjoy the sightseeing!!! Please note: Tripod is not included but it goes amazing with any tripod. The zoom picture I took is only at 10 power. In one picture I am pointing at the Island and second picture is at 10 zoom power. It's my cell phone picture nothing fancy. Amazing right!
