Some people think of church burnings and murders when the hear the word "black metal." This documentary is not for them, Bill Zebub wanted to prove that a documentary about black metal could still be entertaining without using sensationalism. You get to see most artists express themselves candidly, while of course some people embarrass themselves with their facades. But that's entertainment. From the mind of Grimoire magazine and films like Death Metal: Are We Watching You Die?, Metal Retardation and Black Metal: Norwegian Legacy. Features and interviews with Venom, Darkthrone, Behemoth, Immortal, Cradle of Filth and tons more.

Seriously? Come ON.
This DVD is so dumb. Undeserving of such good reviews. YES, there are some hilarious parts. And there are some mildly amusing parts. There is some OK live footage, and there is an insanely funny clip of Attila/Mayhem talking about how inhumane it is to chop down Christmas trees (how has this not been put on YouTube?).This is worth watching once or twice, but quite honestly I bought it and am relisting mine because I wouldn't watch it again. Not without fast forwarding the ridiculously long King Diamond clips. I GET IT. King Diamond is the man. I do NOT need to see that much KD/MF live footage. Completely unnecessary. The other live footage is great, Enslaved, Mayhem, etc. This is basically just a DVD of a bunch of bands, whoever was willing to answer mostly purposefully retarded questions, smashed together. There are bands like Turisas on this DVD that are so out of place, they must've just been included to fill the empty gaps.As I said, worth watching once or twice, but worth more for a laugh than to provide any serious insight into black metal. Get 'Until The Light Takes Us,' still probably be best BM DVD out there. 'True Norwegian Black Metal' is decent too even though the facts are disappointingly incorrect. And all of the YouTube clips with Fenriz mapping out black metal on a blackboard. All of those things are better than this, though this DVD is worth watching once for the redeeming interviews (Nergal, Attila, Enslaved, etc.)

BEWARE: This is NOT all Black Metal!!!! Some really bad FOLK metal represented here...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
Not too bad, but they cover bands that are NOT black metal (Finntroll???? REALLY?) Don't believe everything you see here. Most of what you are going to witness is PERSONAL info, and not actual histories of the bands involved. TYR, FINNTROLL, etc are NOT BLACK METAL! Metal at most, but not BLACK! Sad that the creator cannot make that distinction....

I enjoyed this "documentary" .. even though some parts or music videos seemed to linger for 25 minutes (king D).. it was overall pretty good and he asks funny questions. I encourage everyone to watch the bonus movie "stereotypes dont just disappear into thin air" As it is MY FAVORITE MOVIE. This deals with the ethnic induced enema that america is getting. And chocked full of statements and things that aren't "politically correct", Erotic overtones, SS officers, racial slurrs and everything else that constitutes the feelgood movie of the year in my opinion... I know that people dont like this sort of thing, but it was hilarious and i LOVE this movie... the blackmetal thing was good too.

It was ok. Skip through the intro.
Good footage, but it's just random. Idk..could've been better edited. The intro was completely horrible too. I almost stopped watching it right away.

If you play music this is good for a laugh!!!
As a musician in his 40's I find "Black Metal" to be a sad sad form of entertainment. Not so much the film, which is terrible. The only decent musicians in any of the groups has to be the drummers... One finger guitar will always be F'jn LAME!!!

just not a good documentary. just like a school project they decided to only put enough effort into it to get by or maybe pass the class...but it didn't draw me in or really capture my attention. turned it off after a while.

Very good and worth watching again
Many people complain that this isn't "kvlt enough" because bands like Tyr,Finntroll and Turisas are included. But this documentary covers many topics beyond "Lords of Chaos" fanboys ,Muslim immigration is covered in this 2006 made product. Now look at Europe and what has happened ,the bands here where all ahead of their time of thinking about this disaster and much more willing to honestly discuss it.That is outsider metal ,very much needed today.
