So happy to receive this!
After almost 50 years, I have returned to playing the organ at a church. I was a self-taught organist back when I was in college, studying music as a piano performance major. This Tutor Book has returned me to a simple, clear understanding of the basics which I'm finding very helpful and useful (and I'm now taking lessons, too!). Thank you for your CVO website, too, Robert Fielding.

A Great Guide for the Beginning Organist!
Great book for those of us who play the piano, or started on the organ, but forgot some of the basics on topics from choosing the right shoes, correct posture at the organ, to selecting music, playing hymns, and setting stops or registrations. A good review, an easy-to-follow instructional book for the beginning organist.

Truly a Treasure Trove
Mr. Fielding's subtitle describes my situation so well. While I love the sound of the organ, I am actually a rather short pianist simply filling a need at a neighborhood church. The book gives excellent tips as well as encouragement to those of us who are all too aware of our inexperience.

BUY THIS ONE FIRST!
Wonderful little book ... well worth the read for any advanced pianist seeking to transition to work at the organ. Highly recommended ... with additional resources listed. Well worth the investment!

Glosses over the basics
If you don't know your way around a big church organ.. this is not much help.Kinda just skims over every subject and you are left to find out more on the Internet.Could have done that without buying this book.Look for a more complete one.. skip this.

Full of very useful information
Does include some very useful tips and full of information to help move from one instrument to the other. Could have been a few more pages but I am sure if you follow Roberts course fully you will end up enjoying the organ.

Text book - not tutorial
This is a text book on the cross over issues facing pianists who need to play organ, I would not recommend it as there are far better books on the market.

Tutor book for volunteer organists by Robert Fielding
This does not a manual-type book but is full of pieces from easy to difficult for use with organ pedals but it does not explain how and why which is what I need.
