The Best Locking Hitch Pin!
At 62 years old, I have been towing trailers for about 46 years. For a majority of those years I have searched for the "perfect" locking hitch pin. This item fits that bill! Over the course of time I have lost two locks from locking hitch pins of different designs. (Admittedly, I must not have locked the locks as I thought I had!) By the grace of God I have not had a pin fall out and release my trailer. This locking hitch pin has two fail safes that I really like. First, it uses a regular hitch pin to hold the pin in the receiver and hitch, and then it backs that up with a lock. The design of the lock is such that the core of the lock extends when unlocked and then seats when locked. That gives a visual verification that the lock is indeed locked. This is the most full-featured hitch locking pin that I've ever seen.

Lock failed first use. Had to break it off
Put this on my truck in the fall of 2019. This week I went to remove it for the first time and the lock wouldn't unlock. No signs of corrosion or anything since the cap had been on it. I fought with it for a while and finally gave up.Grabbed a short pipe from my garage, put it on the end of it and snapped it off on half a second. Went down to autozone and just grabbed a standard pin.Obviously annoyed that I bought this thing and it ended up failing and I had to break it off and buy another but also, what point is the lock when it snapped like a twig for me?

Thought it was good, then this happened
Bought this pin July 6, 2019, pulling a 28ft travel trailer with a F350 and have never removed it since installing. Made several trips, maybe 6 total that were all within a couple hundred miles. This trip we went from north of Dallas to Phoenix so total trip is a little over 2000 miles. Just pulled into Gallup, NM coming from Sedona. Ran back over to the petrified forest and when we got back to the park as I walked around the back of the truck the hitch was just a few inches from falling out. Pin was totally gone. What scares me is how long was the pin loose, lock gone....Check it often; since the pin and the hitch are black it can be easy to overlook an issue.

COITAK TRAILER HITCH PIN
SO SIMPLE TO INSTALL, CAME WITH MULTIPLE WASHERS,,,,WHICH I DIVIDED AND PUT ON ENTRY SIDE AND THE OTHERS ON THE LOCK SIDE.............BEING FAMILIAR WITH TYPE LOCK (SAME PRINCIPLE USED IN SETTING SECURITY DOOR LOCK) i WAS DONE FAST.......EVEN MY HUBBY WAS SURPRISED. LOVE THIS ITEM, GLAD i PURCHASED IT INSTEAD OF USING THE HITCH PIN THAT CAME WITH THE HITCH AND BALL.

just smart & well made!
I'm counting on this type lock to be much better than a regular type key fit lock which if you look at youtube? Well lets just say normal simple key locks are so damn easy to pick! I have a new heavy duty CUSTOM MADE Eckhart receiver & reducer ( NOT CHINESE!) & switchable ball. I DON'T WANT TO TAKE IT OFF EVERY TIME I'M COMING & GOING this should be deterrent enough for daily daytime parking lots, shopping centers, restaurants, road rest stops, hiking, unloading my moto & hitt'n the coast highway & still having my hitch when I get back in case I forget to remove it & pack it. perfect design well made thanks! read my Amazon review

Do not buy
Absolutely terrible product. I had read some mixed reviews but decided to purchase it anyway. Used it about 5 times and after a 3500 mile trip I was trying to remove my hitch and the lock acted like the key code was wrong, key would not turn at all. My first thought was, this is going to be real tough to cut off. Then I noticed that the pin seemed to have more play side by side then usual. I took a screwdriver to see if I could pry it apart and the lock end just came right off. So, I had a complete failure of the product. I wonder when in my trip this happened and it scares me to think what would have happened if the pin came out while traveling down the highway at 65mph. . Not just my camper would have been ruined, my new truck surely would probably have received damage, and if anyone was right behind me I cannot imagine what would have happened to them. This is junk. There are some items one can purchase for a deal online but for everyone’s safety, please don’t try to save a few bucks like I did on something that is so important.

So far so good
Bought these as a replacement for a MasterLock version that failed. When I say failed, it literally disappeared. We didn't realize it was gone until the hitch came off and the trailer hit the ground. Bought this one for additional cotter pin security, and the locking mechanism is WAY easier to engage than the MasterLock. Have not put it to the travel test yet, so only 4 stars. Time will tell.

Keeps my hitch secure
I got two of these to secure my hitch to my truck and the ball to the hitch. I used them on a recent touring trip with my camping trailer. They work well and are well finished with caps protecting the locks. They are quite big when compared to normal pins so require a bit of "working around" when attaching chains to the hitch, but are fine once you get used to them.
