Easy Open Wall Lock for AR-15
The safe allows me to keep my AR close by in my closet rather than in safe on other side of home. I was initially concerned that I wouldn't be able to close safe because of Vortex Strikefire II Red Dot sight because of sight caps but it closes...barely. Gun can be stored with 30 round magazine inserted in rifle. Wall lock works fine and has several easy open options. It seems to be well made. Pics posted for reference.

Be aware.....
Heavy duty unit. But a few things first. IF you are in one of the communists states that insist your rifle stock be pinned, you must have your stock fully extended. You may have to get it re-pinned... Otherwise it won't fit or close right. Next, 3 mounting holes in straight line are good for a beam mount. But this unit really could use 1 or 2 more holes, (which I will drill myself), to give it a stronger mount. With just the 3, it still moves if you pull from the lock side. Giving it any leeway will enable someone to yank it off or get a pry bar under it easier... They still won't get it open but....Finally, (there is no mention of this if I recall), you must insert your rifle with the bolt out of battery and port open on an empty chamber. In other words. Bolt locked back. The mount inside wants you to insert your rifle with the ejection port aligned. The mount inserts into the port. If you leave it closed and just lean the right against it, it will not let you close the cover. Now this might not be a bad thing as long as you are aware of the state of your rifle when you deploy it. Especially in a home. If you leave a full mag inserted, deploy the rifle, slap the bolt closed on purpose or by accident, you will have a live round chambered and ready to be fired. I emphasize this because people may not be aware and it wouldn't take much to have an accidental discharge and/or hurt or kill someone. Make sure you train with an empty mag, snap caps or similar to make sure you are ready for the state of a live rifle when deploying it from this mount. Can't emphasize this enough. Train and get acclimated with deploying from this mount!!!

RFID blues
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I would give this 5 stars and if I could give 3.5 I would- I digress. For the money, 5 stars. Well built, solid and ultra secure. A lot of thought was put into the design and manufacturing.Ease of install - a 4 as well. Great instructions and template and the hardware you need. Great job.The reason for the poor score is that one RFID sticker and the bracelet do not work. The instructions direct you to call a toll free number if A RFID DOES NOT WORK ( red flag).. the person I spoke with was friendly and we had a good conversation - but as we went through the reasons why these two do not work and I explained what I had done and was in hopes they would just take a .50 cent sticker in the mail... I got no resolution. Just . IF you have it in your phone or IF you don’t have it close or IF the antenna is not right in the sticker... so I gave it one more shot and said that none of those apply, it was a long pause and I politely said thanks and off we went. I just slumped in my chair and will use this experience in my next sales meeting on what poor customer service looks like.Again, really nice person just no help. Sure,,, I could have asked, but really wanted Hornady to offer the solution- a .50 sticker and .35 stamp would have been easy on us both. The one sticker that did work, I removed off my phone rendering it useless to stick on something else, the braclet works 1 out if 10 passes and the other sticker will not pair.So my video shows operation using key pad.I bought this specifically due to the RFID feature.1 Star if that’s important, 5 stars if you can live with using the code to unlockHence my rating

Good mount for a home defense shotgun
Fits 12 gauge Mossberg 500 with factory ghost sights and heat shield perfectly. The shotgun sits inside the lock at a slight angle, so I decided to mount the lock at about the same angle to compensate for that. Magazine tube, barrel and front sights fit into supplied muzzle ring without any problems. The ring has a plastic gasket inside to prevent the shotgun from scratching. Mounting lag bolts provided were a bit too small for the holes in the lock, so I used my own larger bolts. Mounted it inside a closet and covered by a couple of bathrobes to make it more discreet. Additional bonus is that those bathrobes soften violent door swing upon unlocking. All RFIDs worked, but the wrist bracelet was too picky about the scanning location to be trusted in a critical situation. I probably won't use RFID at all.

Poor design. Standard AR 15 build with a Vortex ...
Poor design. Standard AR 15 build with a Vortex StrikeFire II red dot and Magpul forward grip on a carbine length forend will not fit. Red dot is mounted as far back as possible, and it barely fits in the opening for the optic (had to remove the flip-up lense cover). However, with a carbine length forend, a forward grip in any position will prevent the safe from closing. Removing the optic won’t help because there is a component built into the safe that inserts into the upper (you have to lock the bolt to the rear to insert the rifle into the safe (another design flaw). This is a terrible product. Doesn’t accommodate one of the most common AR configurations out there. Also, none of the supplied RFID tags (stickers, bracelet, or fob) will program according to the instructions. I read that others had the same problem. Avoid this product. It’s terrible. I’m a huge fan of Hornady ammo, but this safe is a dud.

Don't buy it for a Mossberg 930 SPX.
It doesn't work with a Mossberg 930 SPX shotgun...unless you store it in the lock completely unloaded. So why would you bother to lock it up on the wall if it's completely unloaded?? To use this lock on any shotgun the bolt must be locked back to allow the open breech to be slipped over a plastic tab that holds the gun in place. But the bolt on the Mossberg 930 will not lock open if you load any rounds in the magazine tube.Downgraded to two stars because Hornady should include the fact in their product description that some shotguns, such as the Mossberg 930 cannot be put in the lock if any rounds are in the magazine tube.

Fast access for home defence shotgun.
Very fast to secure the shotgun and access, and several options for opening. I wish Hornady had left room for a holographic sight. I will certainly upgrade if a new design comes available.
