Welds Aluminum Just Fine
This gun can be used with the Lincoln pro-mig series but requires alterations to the cabling at the non-torch end of the gun. The manual gives you the color coding for each cable. On the pro-mig 140 (which I use). You will need to splice 2 wires to your grey and white motor wires on the non-spool side of the welder and run them through one of the holes already provided by Lincoln. You will need to cut the factory 4-pin wire terminal off the end of the new gun and add the correct wire terminals. Plug it in and you are good to go.If you are using the Lincoln Pro-Mig series you should also change the power cable on the unit. Lincoln ships this series with a power cable gauge that is entirely to small. After replacing the cable I was welding 3/8 inch mild steel plate without issue at 75% power. I am also welding 3/16 aluminum with my welder at 75% power using this gun. Both of those are are considered the max allowable thicknesses for my welder and by changing the power cable i can a minimum of 1/8 thicker across the board. The major down side to using DC mig on aluminum is the shear extra materiel it lays down. you will never get a tig quality weld with a mig, so be ready to do some grinding afterwards. Bottom line is I think I can weld 1/4 aluminum with C25. To me that is huge not having to swap out tanks for helium.
