Then badger cheapens the book
I am sure this will not be published .I was enjoying the book until the Author's overwhelming need to bring her political bias. Into the book made it unsuitable .Yes,we know you don't like Trump to bad your desire to be a professional was not stronger than your dislike of Trump.I would not buy this book.

New York City history through the lens of one building
This book is fascinating because it basically tells you the history of New York — and its wealth — through the story of one iconic building. So even if you don't think you're interested in The Plaza, it's impossible to resist the tale of a city weathering several wars, Prohibition, The Great Depression, NYC's hard times in the 1970s, etc. Plus there's plenty of good dirt and excellent social and labor history, not to mention Trump's quick but disastrous ownership and a conversion into an empty condo building for absentee billionaire landlords.....I really enjoyed it.

Fascinating!
The different stories are truly fascinating. Even though it's a nonfiction book - you feel that you are reading fiction because the characters and stories are so unbelievable! Highly recommend!

WOW! Loving this book!
Julie Satow has written an excellent book. It is packed full of tons of interesting historical facts about the Plaza, NYC and all the important players from the 1900's on. I can't put it down. It is brilliantly written and very clever. The amount of research that went into this book is staggering. It is also really juicy.! So fun. I love it. A MUST READ!!!

Easy, breezy, delightful reading
I read it in one day. That's what happens with well-written books. The book is fun and it contains many little-known facts about this storied property. It's easy, breezy, delightful reading. Readers can truly appreciate the intense research Ms. Satow performed to create this marvelous book about a New York City landmark that has become a world landmark. Reading The Plaza shows that one doesn't have to stay at the hotel to fall in love with it. A terrific book.

Much more than the history of a hotel.
In The Plaza, Julie Satow has given us a birds eye view of class, status and power in New York City from the beginning of the twentieth century until the present. Meticulously researched, Satow’s narrative is gripping because there are so many delicious details about famous people --e.g. Donald Trump was the only owner to bankrupt the hotel. The book is filled with tales of murder and madness, extravagance and penny pinching, hubris and disgrace.

Great for summer reading
This is a fantastic and really well researched book about a storied building I see every day, and didn't know most of what was in here! It's like reading a novel. Seldom would I recommend a non-fiction historical book for beach reading, but this is perfect! I devoured it from the second I opened it.I usually am reading a fiction and nonfiction book at the same time and happen to be reading LOCK EVERY DOOR along with this, and would totally recommend as a good pairing of fiction with nonfiction.Worth the hype, and will keep to reference in the future.
