βWho knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!β
Bleeding from the crash, running from monsters with deadly intent, Deja climbs a statue to get out of harms way. And it moves. Things begin to get very interesting! Deja Martell has a horrific back-story. It is hard to imagine someone acting in such a way to close kin. But now, sheβs under the protection of beings with the same basic needs as hers: to be out of the sun. Izax, Arkhan, and Azuryyn are most unusual, super protective, and can be highly entertaining. I really like Deja. She cares about others (well, most others). Because she wants the best for her protectors, she performs amazing feats of derring-do to achieve her goals. They are well matched!I am loving the different realms of Sonhadra. Each that Iβve read is well-developed, creatively unique, and populated with beings I find fascinating. Well done!

Love this series.
These books can be so horrifying and tragic, yet also touching and beautiful. Who knew that the terrible experiments that Deja suffered thru would help her find her home on Sonhadra? Deja saved the shadow valos just as they saved her. Although there was pain and cruelty in this story there was also love, kindness and even humor. I laughed so hard at the "loo monster" moment. Please read this book and the rest of this series. You will not regret it.

very sweet
Lots of feels and overall the sweetest story so far. There was less the concept of fated or accidentally blood tied mates and the author decided to give her characters choice in the matter which was very nice to see. Deja is a gentle character and morally very good so itβs not hard to see why she would be a good choice for ruler/love interest.

Action scenes interesting, likable characters - good read
This was a refreshing read after some less appealing ones in the series. The world build was interesting - the action scenes interesting & engaging. Behaviors were logical. The Valos of this world have become increasingly unusual as the series progresses - that didn't change with Book 6. Despite that things made sense in this story. The sex scenes were inventive for their circumstances - although not quite as imaginative as their forms could have made them. I liked the addition and handling of the other Shadow valos. There's limited cultural issues or unique 'alien' sex laced into the story but a good read overall.

My favorite in this series so far!
I really have enjoyed all of the series so far, the first two laying the foundation, but this book has really drawn me in. I love this author's imagination! I think writing is an art, and just like with art you can appreciate other people's styles even if it's not your style, and I have to say that this author is definitely my style.

Yes!
I think this might be my favorite so far.. not because any of the others aren't as good, but because this story is just so warm and simple. I truly felt happy for them and content when I finished it.. πππππ

Surprisingly sweet
I enjoyed this authorβs interesting story of love in the shadows. I thought that there may be more angst arising from the trauma they had all suffered, but their bond bought joy, comfort, and love. The only other book in this series that I have read is number 12 which was full of high adventure and uniting through adversity. This story was much gentler yet still with the spiciness you would wish from a reverse harem story and moments of humour scattered amongst the pages by the author. I really enjoyed it.

Good one
Was ok. Started off with a bang but kind of fizzled out with all that narration and information dump. Not saying it was bad, but I expect more
