Battery Kit for Garmin Nuvi 57LM with Video, Tools, and Extended Life Battery from NewPower99

I got the first screw out with the provided torx driver, but in the process, the torx head partially stripped. When trying to remove the second screw, not only did the driver completely strip, but it also stripped the screw in the GPS. Luckily, I have access to REAL tools, so I was able to remove the remaining 2 screws. However, the second screw is stripped and now I will have to drill it out to remove it and finish replacing the battery. What do you expect from China?UPDATE: On my Garmin Nuvi 57LM, I found that you don't have to disconnect the ribbon cable to remove the 2 screws holding the circuit board. If possible, do that, because the most difficult part of the entire process was getting the ribbon cable seated correctly and clamped down when re-assembling. Now for more bad news. When I got it back together, I pushed the power button and it came to life. I then shut down to re-install the remaining 2 screws. After that was done (and I stripped another screw), the unit wouldn't power back up. Nada. So, took the whole thing apart and re-installed the original battery and powered it up without reassembling and it worked. Tried the new battery again and nada. Old battery works. New battery does not. So, I left the old battery in. At least the GPS still works. The new battery is rated at 3.7 V and has a slightly larger capacity than the original. I measure the voltage on it. There are 3 wires, yellow, black, red. Yellow to black is 0 V. Red to black is 3.4V. I don't know if that is an undervoltage causing the issue or if there is supposed to be something on the yellow wire. Also, the connector on the new battery seems kind of loose when plugged in.

Well worth the investment. Without the DVD to guide you, this particular model would have been very difficult to do a battery replacement on.The special star driver they provide is not well made and strips itself easily. I had a pro set already and was able to get the stubborn screw out, but other than that all went well.

I used it for my Garmin.

The seller provides a tool kit (screw driver) to take the GPS apart to install the battery. Apparently, it is too small as it "rounded out" the screw head on ALL 4 screws. So I haven't installed the battery because I can't get the GPS apart.

The kit was just as NewPower 99 advertised. The problem was that I couldn't remove the screws to the back of the Garmin GPS so I could access and replace the battery. NewPower 99 honored my request for a refund promptly.

It worked on my Garmin Nuvi57LM. It's charged and ready to roll.The instructions were great.
