When we first got our dog it had been a year since her last cleaning and her teeth were in poor shape, she is a breed that naturally develops more plaque and tartar. It cost us $1600 to have a vet do her cleaning. We looked for a solution that would help minimize that cost in the future. And found these, the price is really reasonable, much more so than the really mainstream tooth cleaning chews.We have given these to her almost daily (we forget days occasionally, though she's usually pretty good at reminding us!) And it has been 4 years since her cleaning. When we bring our dog in for her yearly checkup the vet is always incredibly impressed with how clean her teeth are, and has said that she doesn't need a cleaning this year, just keep doing what we are doing.I cannot recommend these enough, price is great, doesn't cause her stomach upset (one branded by a big box store made her SICK!!!) and has kept her teeth so clean that the vet isn't sending their kids to college off of our dog's dental bills.I'm not particularly fond of the scent, it's not offensive but it's not particularly "fresh" either. and I don't notice a reduction in the dog breath smell. But I can imagine what her breath would smell like if she had plaque and tarter buildup and goop on her teeth. it would be MUCH worse, so I settle for the dog breath, after-all, she IS a dog.By vet recommendation, stick with chews that have been tested, and approved by the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC) these products have actually been tested and shown to reduce tartar. Start a regular schedule, after your dog's next cleaning, of giving these to your dog after a meal. (our dog only likes eating once a day so she gets these after she's eaten which is probably a big contributor to how clean her teeth stay). And you need to give these nearly daily for them to work otherwise the tartar buildup becomes too tough for the chew to remove. Also as per vet recommendation, if you have a voracious eater who wolfs down food, takes big bites, or swallows things whole, these sort of treats are a bad idea for your dog. they are likely to take off a huge chunk and choke on it. You'll need to find an alternative brushing option.Hope this helps people trying to do right for their dogs oral health and not sure which product to choose.

I have a 16 year-old black lab mix and she has always had good teeth. But, now she is arthritic and very old and I am extremely hesitant to put her under anesthesia just for a teeth cleaning. She's not a chewer, so she won't touch any chew toys for dog toothbrushes and her muzzle is very sensitive so she won't let me brush her teeth. She can also be a picky eater so she won't eat all treats. I bought these because they were highly rated, affordable, and I knew she already liked the Milkbone biscuits. She loved them! I give her one a day and after only week, I have already noticed her teeth are whiter and she has less tartar. I am incredibly pleased and plan to continue buying them. The only downside is the bag can be difficult to keep sealed, but you can always just dump them into a Ziplock and use that instead.

I have not bought these for a while but doing the pandemic Amazon saved me and my pets they helped us a lot thank you.

Our dog eats most anything so it was no surprise he likes these treats. Within the first couple uses we noticed a dramatic change in his teeth. Give him two to three a week and his teeth look a lot better.

My dogs now demand their chew chews at 8pm nightly by leading me to the kitchen drawer in which they are kept. How they know it is near 8pm I have no idea but they do. Their teeth are cleaner. They are happy and so am I. Approved by the VOHC, they are a very good buy. Dogs love them and they help with d d dental bills!

My large dog enjoys the flavor and he gets excited about “brushing his teeth”. Seems to work well but I still use a dog tooth brush to go with this.

My fogs love them! Easy to break for the little one. From their reaction to the Amazon delivery box I'd say they must smell good.

Be careful - our dogs lose their minds for these! I got them to help improve one of our dog's smelly breath, but they ended up becoming treats and now I have to buy a bag every two weeks because both dogs love them. Okay, I don't HAVE to, but I have to because they deserve it. These aren't cheap, but they seem to be irresistibly delicious and do what they're supposed to do, which is improve tooth health and reduce unpleasant smelling breath, and they do both very well! The taste is an added but necessary bonus to get your dogs to stick to them.
