all most great
This machine(caribou iii) is a really well build machine .It's straight forward design makes assemble easy with a couple of hours. That being said let's talk about the machine itself and the reason I bought it.First off there are little if no reviews on it.l know, I look.I like read all I can before buying.I waited 2 mouth before writing this review so I could give an informed opinion on it.I had a stroke on the right side when I was 2yr old and went to physical therapy almost evey day until I was 13.I tell you this not for sympathy but to give you an idea of what I mean when I say I've worked out all my life. The therapist told my mother he's done all he could do and that I should start working out.The next day I had a gym membership .I' m 48 now still working out so I been around all types of machines. This one is almost gym quality. It's strong on squats which are king. The benching is good not great, that includes flat and include but the decline has to much angle on the bench for me so I do dips no biggie. Now because it's a smithmachine you do have to have good form to get a good up and down slid.I pull back a little on the bar on my up and down motions but that make me have to drop the weight a little so I increase the reps. The pull down bar is good for lat work but you do not get a good negative on the upward stroke. That mean no tricep press down that was disappointing. The low row is the same as the pull down not a good negative motion. The pull up bar is strong and secure just what you look for.Bent over rows are great along with the should shurgs no decease in weight needed. The bench is well padded and works great with the slid adjustment on the back. The leg attachment is just what you think bad.Don't beat up on Yukon I've never found a good leg attachment. I think the word ATTACHMENT is the problem. The slid adjustments on the front (free weight bar holders) are a bit stiff but workable. They may loosen up with time like I hope the pull down and lower lat row station do so I can get that good negative workout. The customer was service is really good. On assemble the upper arm that holds the pulley for the pull down bar had a manufacturer defect causing the pulley to travel to one side I took a couple of pictures and attached them to a short email.A short response and I had the replacement shipped to me no questions asked.I received it three business days later.Amazon did their part like always a super job.I did request a catalog from Yukon because the caribou can grow and I' m thinking about the cable crossover .It looks like a different weight stack is added to the machine so if that address the negative issue I had with the pull down bar and low lat station it's a go.In the end it boils down to are you going to use this or not ?There are a lot of factor having a poor quality machine machine should not be one if them. That is not a issue with this machine.

Good Buy!
My husband and I love to workout and been doing it for years, even before we met. We finally decided to quit our memberships and have our own home-gym. Of course, a Smith mashine was a must.. and decided to buy this one. We've had it for a little over a month. We each workout 5times a week.. and are pleased with this purchase! not as great as commercial, but not at all bad. We got the insurance just in case (you never know) since we're spending over 1k.. a peace of mind knowing we have insurance in case something does happen. Fortunately all is good so far. If anything does ever happen, I will be posting the issue here, as well as how the insurance handled the issue. So, look over all reviews.

Serious home system
I recently purchased this system through Amazon. I work out at home in the AM before work. I was looking for a Smith machine so that I could lift heavy in the basement without the danger presented by free weights w/o a spotter. You'll find Smith machines cheaper than the Caribou, but they fit in the category of "home gym" equipment. Commercial machines are generally a lot more expensive than the Caribou. I settled on Caribou because of the solid construction and flexibility to add on features later as my needs demand (such as a pec deck, cable cross, dip station). The system delivers in 5 boxes weighing 485# (2 or 3 are more than 100#). I broke the heavy boxes down before taking the equipment to the basement. There are a lot of parts. This is not a hard machine to assemble, but it took me 2.5 hours by myself. (I'm handy. Two people would have made the job a little easier, but this is not hard to put together alone.)The system is solid. 300# is easily handled. I don't have need for more, but I'd bet another 200# is well within the range of this system. My only complaint is that the system is a little small. You cannot use the supplied bench with the back upright to support shoulder presses (the bench cannot slide deeply enough into the rack to do that). I do shoulder presses without the bench back raised. The lat pull down and chinning bar are also lower than I'd like (I'm 6'2"). But I compensate by doing pull downs kneeling on the floor and chinning with legs bent 90 degrees at the knees. Frankly, a bigger machine would have a hard time fitting into a home, so I think this is why the dimensions are what they are. (This is the reason for four vice five stars.) However, for bench presses and squats, this is a full sized olympic system. Finally, this system doesn't come with weights. I recommend you either buy these used off eBay/Craigs List or look for a deal at Sports Authority. The money you pay to deliver the weights will probably exceed the cost of the weights themselves. (I got a 300# set including an olympic bar for $140 from Sports Authority. Beat that if you can!)If you're serious about getting/staying in shape at home, you cannot go wrong with this system.

This is an awesome product but be aware you will need Olympic adapters ...
This is an awesome product but be aware you will need Olympic adapters for the leg press and pulley if you have the most common weights. They do not come with the unit and must be ordered separately.

Do not buy.
Do not buy this product. The Smith Machine bar constantly gets stuck (even after being oiled after every use). The bar is also extremely hard to turn in order to latch, this makes it extremely dangerous if you are lifting heavy and are unable to hook it.

Heavy Delivery
Great Product, just be prepared to carry it from the edge of the delivery truck to your house, the driver will not assist you.
