Improv Ideas: A Book of Games and Lists

I teach middle and high school drama and use this book in both classes. It's one of the few improv books I've bought that is user-friendly and adaptable as well as replete with great activities and ideas, suitable for secondary level classes and, with minor changes, for elementary as well. I highly recommend it for any drama teacher.

It isn't often that you can find one book that will work with 8-12 year olds and also with adults, but the exercises in this book can easily be adapted for all ages. They could also be used in a regular classroom setting to encourage critical thinking about circumstances, emotions, or they can be placed in a historical setting. I especially like having the CD of the printed pages to work with. A "must have" piece for teachers of all ages.

This is a great book. I teach and after school drama class and this book is one of my favorites! Packed full of ways for kids to express themselves and step out of their comfort zone while having a great time.

This is my third copy. I use it in my classroom more than any other improv book out there (and trust me, I have them all). Excellent.

Although it's worth MUCH more.The CD-rom alone is worth the cost of admission. Fantastic ideas, some of which need tweaked, but ultimately I know I can go into a classroom with and have a successful time.I love the follow up questions they pose, encouraging discussion and a deeper thinking on the "games" included.

This is a seriously great go to book for acting teachers! I love the format, the games and by far the printable lists are a bonus. Such a time saver!

Good resource for lists of ideas/topics. It is the companion book for, "Drama Games and Improvs". They make a good duo!

Great resource especially if Drama is not your teaching field.. helps get you started and the kids really enjoy the activities.

De très bon exercices d'improvisation, pour s’entraîner ou même à sortir lors de représentation (match ou cabaret)La plupart des exercices sont accompagnés de listes qui sont très utiles et imprimable (un cd est fourni). Par exemple une liste d'émotion, de titres de film, de couples célèbres.La mise en page est claire, on a en un coup d'oeil le nombre de joueurs nécessaires, la préparation de l'espace...Les exercices ne sont pas orientés pour le théâtre d'improvisation mais parfaitement réalisable dans ce domaine.Vraiment un livre ou peu d'exercices sont mauvais.

I love the layout of the book , and all the lists which cover a wide range of topics in each game. I teach drama to developmentally delayed adults and i can always find something on a list that fits the range of abilities in the room . I have had my moneys worth ( and more) out of this publication .

Ready fun stuff in here!!!

I would recommend the companion book also, as it supplies a scope and sequence for teaching the games. Great for any high school aged class, as some of the games are very complex.
