A Great Way to Think About the Beach as a Child
"Sea, Sand, Me!" is a modern classic about what a young child does and feels at the beach. Any child who has been to the beach can immediately identify with the scenery and activities. Those who haven't been or soon to be traveling to the beach will appreciate the fun and spirit of the sun and sand. I always include this on the children's bookshelf during the summer months. It makes a great gift for the end of the school year with a sand bucket and toys or a summer birthday.

One of my daughter's favorites!
This was one of my daughter's favorite books when she was little. We got it for her when she was about 18 months old to help prepare for a trip to the Riviera Maya. I read it to her so many times over the next couple of years, I knew the words by heart. The story is about a little girl whose family goes on a day trip to the beach where she finds a little boy to play with. We also got the book Beach Day, and it was equally well loved.

Good book for toddlers
Took this book on a week vacation at the beach with my 2 1/2 year-old grandson. He loved being reminded of all the things we had done at the seashore and he enjoyed the rhyming text.

Fun at the Beach.....
What's better than a sun-filled, fun-filled day at the beach. Hearing the sea gulls squawk and playing in the sand. Making a new friend and building a giant sand castle together. You can put seashells on your toes and seaweed in your hair, play in the waves and get sand everywhere. It's fun to eat a picnic lunch on your towel, play catch with a big beach ball, wave at faraway boats and explore the rocks and tidal pools finding starfish and minnows..... Patricia Hubbell has captured those wonderful carefree childhood days in her terrific new picture book and youngsters 3-7 will delight in all the glorious summer fun. Told in lilting rhyme, her joyful text is enhanced by Lisa Campbell Ernst's soft, sun-shiny, expressive illustrations that will transport you to the beach on a perfect summer day even if the snow is falling outside your window. Sea, Sand, Me! is a wonderful addition to your home library and a book children will beg to read again and again.

A day at the beach!
I love the simple story of a girl and her mom going to the beach, and playing with a boy there with his dad. I also appreciated how much was left unsaid. My son is 2 and really enjoyed hearing this while we were on our own beach vacation. The illustrations aren't complicated, but I found them charming. I'm not sure about the age range of 3-7 though -- I'd say it's more appropriate for 2-5.

Rhyming beach day
The narrator is a small girl whose mom is packing the car for a day at the beach. When the car is packed, they drive off to the beach, where there's another kid to play with, sand castles to build, and seaweed to wear. The story is cute and presented in rhyme. It has about 200 words.
