Absolutely fantastic product
I highly recommend this book for any guitarist. Of course these songs were meant to be played on a classical guitar, but I first began learning them on a steel-stringed acoustic. The selection of songs is a virtual encyclopedia of guitar technique, in the guise of absolutely beautiful music. The composition is absolutely inspiring and the fingerings are brilliant; Tárrega truly found a way to eke out almost every bit of expressive power from the instrument. The songs range in difficulty from fairly easy (Adelita and Lágrima) to quite difficult (Recuerdos de la Alhambra). There's something for everyone. The recordings alone are worth the price--I listen to them quite frequently on their own. The scores are easy to read and quite accurate. The only thing I can even begin to criticize is that the book doesn't include any performance tips or commentary, which would be nice for Romantic compositions of this sort. But I won't let that detract from an absolutely fantastic product.

Excellent Compilation of essential Tarrega Transcriptions
I bought this eight months ago. I have been working on it off and on since then. I consider myself an intermediate player. Some of the pieces are very difficult and require virtuoso techniques like tremolo to play well. Other pieces, like Lagrima, Adelita, Malaguena, Gran Valse and Maria are well within my grasp. I will save the more difficult pieces, such as Estudio Brilliante and Recuerdos de la Alhambra for later, but I will get to them. The transcriptions are spot on. I am not a big fan of tab, so the tab and standard notation, one over the other on the same page, results in a lot of page turning on the longer pieces. The pieces presented in this volume are essential repertoire for the classic guitar. All of the pieces presented are repertoire ready.I recommend this book Flamenco Guitar Method Bk/Cd Stylistic Supplement to the Hal Leonard Guitar Method (Hal Leonard Guitar Method (Songbooks)) if you need a little help on technique for playing in the Spanish style. I know I did.I became interested in Tarrega from completing the Christopher Parkening Method. Lagrima and Adelita are included in the Repertoire section of the The Christopher Parkening Guitar Method - Volume 2: Intermediate to Upper-Intermediate Level Book/CD Pack . Volume I of the Parkening Method ends with an abbreviated version of Malaguena. It was just the theme. The entire piece is presented in this Tarrega collection. It is really a lot of fun to play with its flamenco tones.I play the CD over and over in the car, committing the pieces to aural memory while I drive. The CD stands on its own as musical entertainment.I was brought back to this selection because Amazon posted an offer to buy it back for a gift card. No way!. I will not be through with this for two or three more years. Even then I would still hang on to it for reference. When I am through, the binding of the book will be shot. The pages will be well worn. I have a huge collection of classical guitar books. This one is a keeper. I know Paul Henry has long since cashed his royalty checks from authoring this, but amateur players like myself are forever grateful to him for making this music more accessible to us.

A bit difficult for me
Before I bought this volume, I knew some of Tarrega's easier pieces, like Lagrima, a pretty piece, apropriate for my level. When I got this collection I realized that the rest of his work is significantly harder.I have to choose a number of stars, and for mee it is more like 2-3 stars, but for those who possess the required skill, this is an 5-star collection of beautiful pieces for guitar. But I have not been able to learn much of it.

Excellent selection for anyone wanting to study Tarrega's works
An excellent selection for anyone wanting to study Tarrega's works. The standard notation and tablature are printed beautifully, and the fingerings work very well. The audio recordings are also beautifully done. If you are a beginner to classical guitar, I suggest starting with Adelita or Lagrima (Tarrega can be known to be difficult to play). After that, Recuerdos is a necessary piece in any classical guitarist's repertoire. Tarrega is without a doubt one of the best guitar composers to ever live, and this book contains his greatest hits! Highly recommend!

Really good for guitarist that can't read standard notation.
If you like classical guitar, this book is a must have. Every single song on here is a gem. I will agree with the other reviews on here saying that these songs are for advanced players and it would be better with out tabs, but this book was ment for people who can't read sheet music. Now, the book itself is great, very easy too read the tabs. And the cd that comes with it makes it easier to learn the songs. Good sound quality also. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that wants to learn Francisco Tarrega's music. Also, it would help alot if you know a Lil bit about sheet music. If you have never been introduced to guitar standard notation, you might wana try "50 easy classical guitar solos" that is also a great book. Like I said before, this is an advanced book.

LOVE IT!!!!
This is a fantastic book, that brings virtuoso level classical guitar within the reach of both the traditional player and those who have trouble reading standard guitar notation. Paul Henry has done a fantastic job of making this music available to a much wider audience. Job well done MR Henry! If you've bought this book, you might also enjoy Paul's other book, Concert Spanish Masterpieces for Guitar.

Cut out Paul's picture
Nice collection for intermediate to advanced players who need tabular. But I found the little people picture of Paul Henry on the page facing "Adelita" annoying (pretentious?) so I cut it out :)Sorry Paul.

Really good arrangements
Fingering is excellent, but in tiny numbers that are hard to read. Table of contents is unusable, so many erroneous entries. All my whinging aside, I really like the contents and am willing to put up with the minor flaws.

Produced by the worlds top self taught musical instrument teacher
I'm simply not good enough on the classical guitar to play from this book just yet. Of course I've got the option to use tab but, I prefer to read music. Plenty of fine self help books from this producer.
