The Boomer's Guide to Online Dating: Date with Dignity

I am not sure where the author got such statistics as "60 percent of men versus 40 percent of women sign up for online dating." Other online dating books don't support this claim at all.However, I admit that some of her advice was practical and helpful. She suggests learning about men by listening to them at "the source." Turn on Imus in the Morning radio show or watch ESPN Outdoors, where you get to hear men "banter" and joke with each other.She also wants readers to complete "exercises" in order to identify and find the person who meets their needs. The first exercise requires 20 examples of relationships that stand out in your mind. (I haven't had 20 relationships even going back to grade school!) And then you have to answer six questions for each. (I might have been more inclined to do this if I had not bought the Kindle edition!)I know that successful online dating requires some preparation, but I wasn't ready for this much. I wish I had gotten the book from the library so I wouldn't feel like I wasted my money.

Definitely written for women so a man may not be happy if he bought this book without realizing that.If you are new to online dating there is a lot of great advice he about how to proceed.The kindle version is not ideal if you want to take the quizzes in the beginning. You don't need them to read the book but they are supposed to help you determine what sort of person you are looking for. I didn't find them helpful since in my younger years I didn't give a lot of thought to who a person was before dating them.

For me this was the only well working and realistic approach to on online dating among more than 20 books on the topic that I've read before 2006.However, by the time I've received this book, I already had found the love of my life :).I can highly recommend it to anybody over 50 and still looking for his/her soul mate.My advice: never give up, she/he's out there somewhere. Be patient and keep trying to find the perfect partner for you.

This is a great book and I highly recommend it if you are in your mid-40s or beyond and looking to find the man of your dreams. Despite the title, the book is geared to women. It's a great primer to online dating, helping you find your way through dating internet sites, preparing a profile and the steps between getting a "wink" and getting married.What I also like about this book is that Judsen takes time to help you reflect on past loves and determine what went right and what went wrong. She also takes you through all the steps of setting up your profile and responding to emails on dating sites, as well as "dos and don'ts" that will help you get noticed by the men you really want to attract.If you are dating, get this book.

The title understates the scope of this book. It is a comprehensive relationship guide for Baby Boomer women who want to find a husband over the internet. Judsen Culbreth was successful in finding her husband this way and her stories throughout the book remind us of her success. There is much useful information on internet dating. But first there are a series of questionnaires to determine if you are "relationship-ready." Her chapter comparing the features of various online services is very helpful. Her guidance for developing a profile, carrying on e-mail correspondence, and safety tips are very good. She even has a chapter on "chemistry and sex" which is geared to the needs of peri-menopausal women. The final chapter recommends a schedule for a year of dating before sealing the relationship with marriage.A great deal of this information is useful to men, but the audience is clearly intended to be women. For those of us female boomers who getting back into the dating scene and trying it online, this book is a must. I did find that it being written from a woman's perspective was especially helpful. The author includes her experinces and those of others who met their mates online, which offer good advice. Do not pass this one up.

As a recently single woman, I was looking for a book on internet dating that would provide practical tips on how to start the process. This book was right on the mark.

I guess I should have looked at the publishing date (2005), before ordering. Somewhat informative as for basic info, but online dating has evolved since 2005.
