Block Surf SUV Surfboard Rack

This item is exactly what I needed and has served its purpose swimmingly. There's a hoop on two parts, the tip loops through the hoop and I've used it with the grip on the inside as well as the outside and each works just fine. The instructions weren't helpful, so after a minute I figured it out and it's easy as pie.

The installation instructions for these racks are very unclear. They are thus to me pretty much worthless, as I cannot figure out how to safely install them and can find no information on the Internet to help out. The company should at least provide a youtube clip with step-by-step installation instructions, but I couldn't find that either. A total waste of money. Steer clear of this product unless you have an advanced degree in engineering.

As a lot of other reviews have said, the written instructions that come with the product are worse than useless. I was able to figure out what to do by squinting at the (really bad) pictures that came with the written instructions, and by examining the actual pieces to see how they fit together. Once I got everything installed, though, it worked great. The beach we go to is about 20 miles away, and at speeds sometimes approaching 60 mph, my son's longboard didn't budge. The actual product is fantastic. I knocked a star off my rating because the useless instructions.

I've had these for over 9 years in the PNW and AK. They held up great, my only complaint is the straps are a little short for anything over 2 longboards. The pads are faded, but no rips in them just lots of wax buildup from my boards. Would buy these again if I ever need new pads.

worst. instructions. ever. I'm a pretty sharp guy and still had me thinking for way too long on how the straps go. Overall I think the strap setup is terrible and opted to buy longer, wider straps and use those thus just using the pads. Dakine make nice wide, long straps which fit the bill. I will also add I think it would be better if the pads were a few inches wider.

only reason I am giving this a 3 star instead of five is because one on the two kits I ordered was missing a strap, so in one package I had two pads, straps, and only one buckle strap the problem wasn't amazon or the seller just missing from manufacturing kit assembly didn't have time to haggle with returns so went to local surf shop and bought new straps

Got these 2 months ago and they've been working great! Super simple and easy to use. As someone else mentioned, they can get a little noisy on the freeway (basically a hum from the straps vibrating in the wind) but other than that they're great! I use them on a 9ft long board.

I was a big fan of the surf pad and strap until the day that the strap broke and my board flew off on the 10 freeway at 5:30am. The straps had dry rotted since they stay on the roof at all times. I have since bought new pads and new Dakine straps and the quality difference on the straps is night and Day.Anytime I see a person with these straps on their roof I try to get next to their car to tell them to replace the straps before they lose a board.
