Sways back and forth about 6" even with no clothes on it

The media could not be loaded.  I think my rack was not assembled properly. There as screws that set the side supports on the dowels. There is so much room between the side supports and the horizontal dowel ends that I could put a quarter in each joint. As a result it wobbles back and forth horrible, and this is with NO clothes on it. I am returning it because I'm afraid it will collapse if a wet items are placed on it. Apparently, someone did not place the dowels in the supports properly before tightening the screws.

No electricity needed! Perfect purchase!

I am delighted with this American made, handcrafted clothes drying rack. It was easy to pull up into its drying height. I use it inside my house and it fits perfectly in my bathtub. The dowels were all sanded very smooth and none of my clothes, including silk scarves, have caught at all. I am careful to allow it to fully dry between uses to avoid any possible mildew problems I have heard others speak of. When you read the instructions, this is one thing the manufacturer recommends. The rack itself is lovely and beautifully engineered and finished--by which I mean no finish, just the raw wood, sanded beautifully smooth on all the dowels where the clothes rest. A good weight, and holds a fair amount of clothing for this single person's household. And made in Wisconsin to boot! It's a wonderful product and I strongly recommend it!

Sweet rack changed my life

This is a terrific thing. I used to have a rack with a couple of more bars at the top, and I may add those myself. But I have no complaints. I think an important part of buying one of these beauties is deciding whether to get the medium or the large rack. Because these are made of hardwood, they're substantial enough to hold jeans and towels, but they're also nearly 15 lbs. So my family decided on the medium sized rack so that it would be a bit easier for the girls to move it in at night. Well that turned out to be a mistake. I should have got the large. I have a normal sized back yard, and running out of space with 90% of your clothes hung up puts an end to the joyful sunny laundry experience right quick. But there's a true upside to realizing bigger is better, and that's convincing a certain someone we're getting a 60" OLED TV. So I thank you Benson. Here you thought you were just making racks, but really you fixed America. Now if America would just get me a beer. . . .

A well constructed, heavy duty rack--all hardwood

If you're tired of those more common flimsy racks of tin coated sheet steel or thin miscellaneous varieties of softwood held together with wire staples, then this could be what you want. It is not petite but it will hold a wet beach towel or two or three without threatening to collapse.Nicely designed, the flat-rack portion is at about waist height instead of at the top. This is more convenient than you might imagine when putting down a screen to layout a wool sweater. There are additional rungs above. The relieved portions of the dowels are 1/2" diameter and the rungs otherwise are 3/4". The slats are 1 1/5" nominal. This is not your typical rickety drying rack. And not only has the wood been given a final smoothing/sanding but the ends of the slats have been dressed with a sander to soften the edges. This isn ot done on most wood drying racks. Not inexpensive but worth it in the long run.

Very well made!!

This is not your made in China cloths rack! Very sturdy, will last forever if even half taken care of. Wish I had seen this years ago. I love wooden built items. It is a little bit more expensive than some of the cheaper made items, but you will not be wasting your money here! Be careful how you grab it folding it up and pulling it back out. You can pinch a finger if you are not careful, but getting used to it just takes once or twice. I would recommend this to anyone who "hang" dries regularly.

Best Drying Rack I've Ever Used!

I've tried the plastic ones and the flimsy wooden ones. They annoy me...putting them up is a fiddly, fussy hassle, they look terrible and don't seem solid. This one is a real pleasure. It's a bit more expensive than most, but I plan to have this my whole life. It's that solid. It sets up very simply and intuitively and feels solid when standing. The wood is smooth and nice.My one regret is I wish I'd bought the large, instead of the medium. I dry a lot of turkish peshtemal towels on this, since the dryer is harsh on this, and I wish I could fit three lengthwise. Also, now that I have a drying rack I like, I'm less shy about buying clothes that you can't tumble dry. So I really wish I'd purchased the large. I would urge anyone on the fence to seriously consider the larger size!

So many uses and quite sturdy!

It does have a wobble from side to side, as stated by others, but it's not a big issue. We put full-face helmets on it, motocross pants, jeans, snowsuits, and even use it to rise pans of baked goods, beside the woodstove where it resides. I wish it had a flat top instead of the flat middle, but I still love it! If not for the wobble, it would be a 5 star on the "Sturdiness" and "Craftsmanship".

Fantastic!

I purchased the medium - I love it! I do use a clothesline outdoors in the summer - for towels, sheets, outerwear (I don't hang undergarments outside... just don't...) so I don't want to dry those things in the dryer in the winter. I have used several different kinds of indoor dryer racks over many years, and this one is by far the best. It is sturdy, the dowels are larger so no marks on clothing and I can fit A LOT of clothing and/or towels on this rack. (OK, so I haven't tried to dry sheets on it - I just think the dryer is easier if I can't use my outdoor line...but that is me....) I would recommend this highly!
