Impressive little light
I bought this headlamp because it met all my requirements for an ultralight, weekend backpacking piece of gear. It weighs only 2.3 oz with the AA battery. You can go lighter with the push button zipper pull lights, but you sacrifice so much with that option, it's almost not worth bringing as a primary light. With this one you get a great function to weight ratio. One bright (listed at 100 lumens) white light with hi/med/low/flashing functions and a two, night vision saving red LEDs with a constant/flashing function. It has a nice, large headband that would easily be able to adjust over a climbing helmet or sized to fit a toddler. Along with the red LED for night hiking, the other feature that attracted me to this product was that it ran on ONE AA battery, not 3 AAA's or some exotic, expensive battery. At an extra 1.6 oz you can have 2 battery backups and I'm still .3 oz less then my old Tikka (with no extra batteries). The build quality is far superior to those dollar store lights; it is still an all plastic construction but the battery compartment has a satisfying "snap" shut and the headlamp angle adjustments have a solid click (this part is the weakest point and may wear out over extended usage, but at the price...). I have not tested it's water resistance capabilities, but it does have a rubber seal along the battery compartment. The price cannot be beat. I got it for just under $15 around Black Friday and at the time I am writing this review it is running a buck more. I have seen other headlamps (identical in appearance, just different names and colors) going for $40+. If you are in the market for a nice, inexpensive, lightweight headlamp, do yourself a favor and pick this one up.

Fantastic light, well worth the money
I have owned this light for over 3 years now and use it for hunting and for work. I can't say enough good things about it. It is super lightweight and very bright. The best part about it, is that it only takes one AA battery. The battery power seems to last a very long time as well. When I leave camp in the morning, all I take is one spare battery in my pack and I usually don't even need that. I am prepping my gear for the upcoming hunting season and wanted to make sure the light was still functioning. I found my battery had exploded in the lamp leaving acid all in the inside. I cleaned it out with baking soda and WD-40 and the light still runs like a champ. I am concerned that the acid may damage the seal, causing it to leak over time, but it still seems to be working now. I'm going to purchase me another one to have as a backup. These are really great lights and worth the money compared to high-end name brands.

I think it is a nice lamp and very bright
I purchased this item as a gift for my boyfriend's birthday. I think it is a nice lamp and very bright. However, I agree with other posts that the clip for the battery is a little flimsy. You have to make sure you clip it just right for it to stay shut. I think he will still like the gift and how bright the light shines. The different modes are nice as well.

The power of amazing customer service
I bought this headlamp a couple of weeks ago and it arrived damaged. The rubber washer that seals the battery case when closed was malformed and wouldn't allow the case to close properly. I put in for a return and wrote in my reason when asked. Outback River immediately shipped me a new headlamp free of charge, no questions asked. The new headlamp works well. It is sealed properly and the light is bright and well formed. Additionally, it is lightweight, so it won't add needless weight to my pack with additional batteries, straps, lights and lenses. It is exactly what you need when in the woods in the dark and it won't give you a headache when wearing it. I love that it uses AA batteries and not AAA, it saves me from having to bring different types of backup batteries when camping. I also love it that it only uses one AA battery, reducing the weight even further. Bottom line: it's a good headlamp made by a company that stands behind its product.

Comfortable, but unreliable
This headlamp is a nice size, but it drains the battery really quickly, both turned on and not in use. I have this and a bulkier Black Diamond headlamp that I mostly use around the house for projects, and I've replaced the battery on this one four times in the span of one battery in the Black Diamond. And that one gets more use, because half the time I pick up this headlamp, the battery is dead. I originally got this as a convenient headlamp to put in my pocket for walking back home in the dark, but I only use it around the house because it drains the battery so quickly when turned off that it might be working fine when I leave the house and then out of juice when I'm heading home. When turned on to the brightest white light, I have been able to get about an hour and a half to two hours of battery time. That being said, it is really comfortable to wear and has a nice, bright beam and variety of functions. I just don't use it outdoors because it is too unreliable.

IMHO Red is too bright for reading, otherwise nice little light :-)
Nice product. I gave it 4 stars because red light is a bit too powerful for reading which is what i had hoped to use it for. But it seems the red light should be fine for bopping around a campsite, although i haven't yet tried it out for that purpose. White light is plenty bright with 3 levels which is useful. Strap is comfortable and looks durable. All in all, a good light for the price
