Girl Power 5-Minute Stories

My 8 year old daughter loves this book!
Well, I completely disagree with reviewers who don't understand how this book can be considered "girl power" and be pink--there are girls, like my daughter for instance, who love pink and purple and princesses and my little pony as much as they love Ninja Turtles and riding bikes and using tools with her Dad. This book, in my opinion, is for those girls. The ones who are a bit girly but also have some tomboy in them. My daughter lives in a country outside of an English speaking country and is being raised bilingual. This book is a great one to practice her English reading skills. My 12 year old niece enjoys this book as well. I'm sure for native born English speakers, these stories are probably more in the 1st Grade/2nd grade reading level but it's perfect if you have bilingual children where English is not necessarily their first language.I love how positive the stories are, in their own ways. My daughter and niece enjoy taking turns choosing the story they want to read and my daughter asked me tonight to see if I could find another book just like this one. I only wish there was a volume 2!

Entertaining, enlightening and encouraging
I bought this book of stories for my own toddler girls, and as gifts for friends, because I love the values reinforced by these stories. Self-acceptance, tolerance and patience with others and yourself... Acknowledgement that you can be girly and beautiful as well as strong and a leader. Friendship and intergenerational love, respect and awe... There are a mix of cultures represented; it's not all about the white girls. Also the artwork is vibrant. The girls love it at ages 2 and 5. I think they'll enjoy these for years to come especially as they learn to read on their own.

Great for super hero girls
I have to granddaughters, ages 6 and 4. The girls are both into learning from their parents and myself, the power of females. This book is fun to read for all and teaches all great values like, acceptance to others, value yourself, etc.

Awesome bedtime (or anytime) stories for girls (and boys!)
My wife bought this for my 3.5 yo as a bedtime story book. The stories are great, and their subject matter and voice is varied. My daughter loves the story about the princess who karate chops and skateboards most of all. Not only is this good for girls, but it would be GREAT for boys. Having boys read about strong girls who think for themselves is super important and this book delivers.

Good for you to read to your daughter, not to teach how to read
These are great stories to read to a young girl. We have a baby so we read to her. Some of the stories are about 5-10 minutes stories and some are 2 minute stories but they are all clever and most of them are good. We have ran into 1 or 2 that were awful but we just choose not to read them again. Also, they use a TON of weird names that are even hard for my husband and I to pronounce so if your daughter is learning to read, I would choose a different book

Great compilation.. daughter loves all the stories
Daughter loves all the stories and so do I.. her least favorite is the princess one. Minor complaint (which might not be an issue for you) the book in hardcover is rather heavy.. my daughter is almost three and when we read in bed, trying to prop this up and not get dinged can be a bit hazardous.. again I understand this is quality book binding and will last a long time but sometimes I wish it’s lighter..

Superhero stories for girls
Great short stories for girls that are very attractive to my 5 year old granddaughter who is into super heroes right now. She loves that the stories make the girls the heroes. They can be read in 5 minutes so perfect for a quick bedtime routine or for a quick story time

Really Great Bedtime Book for Kids. A Great Gift!
Gave this to a 5 year old as a gift. It was a really nice and glossy book with lots of stories and great illustrations. It made an affordable but inexpensive gift for a young girl I do not know well. The stories have empowering messages about girls. The recipient loved it, I hear it is currently her favorite bed time book. The pink color does not take away from the empowering feminist message of the book. This type of thinking is reductive and honestly ridiculous, this book is fine for kids. Gatekeeping about colors is sexist.
