Never mind that this is a AUD, the clapping and talking does not detract from the excellence of the musicians. Give a listen to this one when you can, if you are an Evans fan.

The sound quality is absolutely awful. I am returning it as I type this. It sounds like it was recorded on a cheap cassette recorder with a bad microphone and marginal recording circuitry. I have many "live recordings" of Bill Evans, and this one is very unlistenable compared to any of the others in my collection. This one is only for the absolute Bill Evans completist who has to have everything, despite the unlistenable quality of the product.

The music here is magnificent. The other reviewer is hung up on the recording quality. There are plenty of great hi-fidelity live recordings of Bill Evans. This is an amateur recording, but if you listen to the actual MUSIC and get beyond the recording quality, you will discover a true treasure.

1979年、ブラジル、 Rio でのライヴ音源ですが、ブラジルでの演奏ということでAnt'nio Carlos Jobim の曲を取り上げています。「Wave」「Corcovado」「One Note Samba」で「Wave」ではLeny Andrade（レニー・アンドラーヂ）のヴォーカルが聞けます。Leny Andrade はブラジルを代表するジャズ、ボサノヴァのベテラン歌手だそうですが（私も初めて知りました）どの曲もかなりアレンジを変えて、原曲とは違う Evans 流になっていますがこれがなかなか良くて躍動感があり瑞々しい曲になっています。場所がブラジルだからでしょうか、全体に生き生きとした心地良さがある演奏です。音質もステレオ感のあるMono で高音部がやや強調されていますが、私のそう高級ではないスピーカーではけっこう良い音に聞こえました。

79年ブラジル滞在時に現地ピアニストのルイス・エサとの共演、というふれ込みだが何故かエサのピアノが聴こえない？その方がエヴァンスファンには都合がいいのだけど、ヘッドホンで聴いていると耳が痛くなってしまうキンキンした最悪のモノラル音源だ。会場の雰囲気から小さな酒場での録音だと思われる。演奏自体はアップテンポでバリバリとピアノを弾きまくる御機嫌なエヴァンスが記録されているだけに音質の酷さが悔やまれる。
