[Haruharu Wonder] Black Rice Hyaluronic Essence 1.6 fl. oz / 50 ml | Hyaluronic Acid Essence, Facial Moisturizer

I was looking for something to cool down my skin since the weather is getting warmer and drier here in Southern California.As soon as I put it on my face, it instantly cools down my skin and hydrates. What I like the most about this product is that it doesn’t leave my skin sticky. After using it for couple of weeks now, my skin feels very soft and smooth and well moisturized.The packaging design is so cute and compact that I take it with me so easily. I love using it on my kids when we are outside and their faces get all red from the heat and harsh sun exposure. The ingredients are natural and safe enough to use on kids, and it works amazingly. I can visibly tell that their skin redness from the heat quickly goes away once I put this on.I Highly RECOMMEND it, especially for the swimming season! It does wonders to your skin, and is much more effective than putting some aloe gel in my opinion.

My skin likes this product. It drinks it in, not sure what the black rice does but my skin looks great!

The Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Hyaluronic Essence is a Korean skincare product. It is branded as, “A lightweight, anti-aging essence that leaves skin soft and fresh with zero sticky residue. Perfect for oily to combo skin types.”What it does: “Protects skin against free radicals, like ultra violet radiation and pollution, and promotes skin cell regeneration.”The clear, colorless gel essence comes in a sturdy Robin’s egg blue, flat ovular plastic 1.6oz or 50ml container. You screw off the top and there is a tiny opening. See images. When the bottle is full and new, you initially waste some of the product because you have absolutely no control over how much squirts out of the full bottle, even when it is vertical (top up). Because of how thick the plastic is and the design, the gel essence will erupt from the tip and keep coming unless you recap it quickly. After a while, after using it some, it will stop coming out on its own and allow the user to dole out how much they want to use without as much waste.What is essence anyway? If you are new to Korean skincare and multi step skin regimes, essence is traditionally a lighter weight product than say a serum or ampoule, and is less concentrated ingredient wise. They’re often used after you wash and tone, as a hydration booster, then you follow up with your heavier serums, ampoules, moisturizers, and oils. In this case, the Wonder Essence is a hint thicker and heavier in the gel medium. And it appears to be more of a concentrated formula given the fermented ingredients therein.Vegan, 95% Natural ingredients, Complete Ingredient List:Deionized Water, Glycerin, Betaine, Propanediol, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Phyllostachys Pubescens Shoot Bark Extract, Aloe Vera Leaf Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Aspergillus Ferment, Hyaluronic Acid, Beta-glucan, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Trehalose, Tromethamine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Phytate, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Cyclodextrin, Alcohol, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) OilI am a huge fan of most everything in this essence, with the exception of alcohol and lavender oil. Neither are ideal for mature, sensitive, or Rosacea prone skin. I think the lavender is added as a fragrance ingredient, as this gel does have a scent to it. Not overpowering or unpleasant, but completely unnecessary (to me). The bottle, while cool looking, is not practical or useful (per the mention of how the user has no control, at first, over how much product comes out). The slim profile of the packaging is nice, but I would have preferred to have more control over the dispensing of said product. This does have hyaluronic acid in this, so after you have applied the product, be sure to layer on moisturizer after. HA draws moisture deeper into the skin from the outermost layer. If said layer is parched or the ambient hair is dry, the HA will not work as well and likely cause the skin to feel more dehydrated. Yes, even if you have oily skin, use moisturizer with your HA-formulated essences, serums, ampoules, and sheetmasks. Else you will likely not glean the hydrating benefits.Would I get this again? Likely not. I have other less expensive, fermented, HA-enriched products that have no added essential oils or fragrances, or alcohol, which are more suitable for my sensitive, combination skin. If they nixed the alcohol and the lavender oil, I’d give it higher marks. But I think it is suitable for most skin types, especially if you don’t mind a little fragrance in your skincare. Worth a try. You may love it.I hope this review was helpful.

I have been used SK II Essence for years but I decided to try it due to its cute packaging. It leaves my skin super soft and less textured than without it. I learned Its main ingredient is Black Rice, one of top 5 Super Foods in the world, which is well known as the best anti-oxidant ingredients. Also, I like this lavender scent just like I am in a luxurious spa.

Wonderful product. My skin feels better since I started using. Soft lavender scent.

Has a funny smell. Nice finish on skin, results visible after a week of use. Nice product

Product was okay. Didn’t see any results in my skin so didn’t bother repurchasing. Save your money and get a different hyaluronic serum instead.
