If you wear bifocals you need to try this, it's amazing. It's like having the vision of Superman.
I was very reluctant to try this product. To me it looked clunky or hard to use as I used to have a high school instructor who used a similar device. I was surprised to find out this unit is not clunky, you can even use it with your own glasses still on, and man you can see every detail. For 44 years I worked as an electronics technician. In the era of IC Chips and miniaturization like surface mounted devices it was getting harder to deal with even minor vision issues. No one likes the idea of bifocals but I had reached that phase. After having botched a repair on a small key fob circuit board simply because of bad vision it was clear I had only two choices. Get a better tool or give up electronics. Like my instructor in high school and so many older technicians who used big magnifiers on swing arms with florescent tube lighting to keep working I saw the headband magnifier as a good choice. The first time I used it was beyond amazing. It took me a minute to find the optimal lens to use but after that I could see micro-components with ease. Suddenly a solder joint on a surface mount device wasn't the end of the world. I've since used this magnifier for many other projects not just electronics work. It's well designed with a light that can be adjusted to various angles so your head is not in an awkward position. The assortment of lenses allows you many options. Great if you collect coins or even have difficulty in reading tiny labels for medicine or ingredients. You will not regret having one of these around the house especially if you have reached the "bifocal age". I liked this product so much I bought a spare for myself and a third to give as a gift to a fellow electronics technician. One more thing getting back to that light. If you have the start of cataracts the addition of LED lighting with magnification is a great combination.I hope this product is available for a long long time !! A pleasure to use, well though out, and it's wonderful to be productive again. The attached photo is of the inside of a modern hand held transceiver. For relevance in the lower left side of the photo is the head of a small screw. Compared to the soldered in components it's big. However I can see it all !!!

Adam Savage said it best ....
You do not have to fork out fifty, a hundred, or even hundreds of dollars for a very good magnifier. I paid around twenty and it works well. The pros:The fit is adjustable; easy to adjust, and stays on.The lenses are well made and very clear. One can "stack" lenses (more than one lens slot!) for higher magnification. The headband magnifier housing is well-made and sturdy. (Just remember to take it off before getting up from your workspace ... mine has survived a few klutz moments with no scarring, scratching, or breakage!).The LED is bright and (at least for me) points right where I need it, unlike a lot of headband LED lights I have.It does not have a lot of weight. My head does not feel weighed down wearing it for any length of time. The Cons: (OK, There really aren't any)I can see how poorly I painted the faces on the miniatures I made before I bought the magnifier.I had to buy a second magnifier because the first was such a great deal.(As I said, there really aren't any cons.)I admit I was skeptical. I have been putting off buying the magnifier. I WISH I had my Dad's desktop round engineer's one (with the ring light and the gooseneck lamp attachment, but those are at best twice the price (and the one he had is now around $150). But I have to give Adam Savage credit for steering me to this particular headband magnifier. It works a charm.

Overall a good unit for the price.
Overall, a good unit for the price. The unit comes with (5) magnification lenses ranging from 1X to 3.5X and are stored in a nice sturdy box with separate dividers to prevent the lenses from being scratched. The unit will allow (2) lenses to be used simultaneously if needed, which allows one to combine magnification lenses for optimal clarity. The headband is easily adjusted by turning the knob on the back of the headset. The two knobs on the sides allow one to easily adjust the tilt angle required. The light is (2) LEDs. It is operated by partially sliding the light’s housing unit forward which allows the light to be easily adjusted for optimal focus. One can also slide the entire housing unit out of the headset if the light is not required. The light runs on (3) AAA batteries. I was somewhat disappointed with the brightness of the light. I would have preferred it to be a little brighter which is why I deducted 1 star for that. All things considered, this is a good headset and I would recommend it for anyone considering purchasing one.

Decent at first, but needs work
I wanted a battery fed lamp, as I've been steering away from rechargeables. The headmounted magnification aspect was great, and I liked it quite a bit at first. However, after a short time, the head adjustment simply didn't hold and it was constantly loosened from my head. I found a work around to that issue and could have lived with it, but after only a couple years of very sporadic use, the headlamp developed a circuit/connection problem. It no longer at lights full brightness and at times, not at all. The design/engineering needs a bit of refinement.

Great product
This is a wonderful product. I recommend it highly for diamond painting. Can be used for reading too if you wanted. It is very comfortable and works great. Only issue I had, and I am not going to lower the rating because it concerns the shipping. It could have come from an Amazon Eagan facility. I am lucky it was not damaged. It looked like someone took it out of the box and couldnt get it in again, so the box was open. It had one of those thin grey envelopes, so no protection in shipping.

Great for when you are getting old.
I got this headband magnifier to find those little micro slivers you get in your hand and feet and with my age, they are getting harder to find. It's great to get the magnification needed to see these things and also the light is very good as well.
