Not bad for the price
i ordered these along with some thicker lighted magnifiers and a set of 5 similar type wallet magnifiers. I only need to use glasses when reading small print (especially in low light) or when at the computer. Thus, I've never wanted to carry reading glasses around with me. This has been a bit of an issue in dimly lit restaurants and bars... trying to read small receipts. These little magnifiers work well for my purposes. I've thrown a couple in my car, one in my wallet, a couple in one of my travel bags, etc. For the price, they will work just fine.If your eyes need a lot of help, these might not be enough for you. However, the magnification is clear enough and with the little plastic sleeves they come in, it shouldn't be too hard to keep them from getting scratched up.For anyone with reasonable expectations of what they get for their money, these are easily a 4 star item. I'm sure they may get scratched or cracked over time, but they are so convenient and inexpensive, they are still a bargain.

Excellent Little Piece.
I ordered these as a back up means of starting a fire while camping/in survival situation/etc. They do their job swimmingly. It took me two attempts and some patience to get a fire going but this was not due to the lens, just my experience with it. The focal point, when positioned properly, can be smaller than a pea. The lenses are made of clear plastic which flexes nicely and they come with a clear plastic cover to protect it from scratches. The cover isn't anything to write home about but it is there. The lens is also super thin and fits nicely in an Altoids tin if you were wondering. :pIn my first attempt to start a fire with one, I managed to burn a couple holes in some cardboard. Second time I got more material together, set it up better, and went to work. Did its job very well and I am quite pleased with the product. When focused correctly, a semi dark piece of material will start to smoke/smolder very quickly with enough sunlight. Hope this helps anyone looking to get it!

Will start a fire
So I got these as fire starters for Boy Scouts to put in "survival kits" for Wilderness Survival merit badge. These are not like using a big 4" diameter glass magnifier, but they'll do the job to start a fire in a pinch. You do have to be careful not to flex the lens when trying to focus the sun otherwise you can't get a nice round small dot and can't get enough heat to start the fire. Warning: these don't work if it's cloudy or at night. These also work as maginfiers for seeing small objects! The grooves in the lens (that make it a Fresnel lens) are a bit annoying but will work if you don't need super clear detail. On the other hand, if you didn't care about clear detail why would you be using a magnifier anyway?5 stars for being a decent compact fire starter, not rated as a magnifier.

Works well
I bought this to use to look at flowers when hiking (I started learning about botany). For my purpose, these are ok, but a bit too under powered. They work if I squint and hold very still. Even with the lack of maginfcaton, the small wallet size makes them invaluable and easy to keep around.I have also used it to start a camp fire I you are curious. Finally, I gave a couple to some of my older friends for reading, and the work very well for that.... which of course is the intended purpose. My selfish botany usage is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. I would buy these again.

Handy to have around...
They do work to magnify things. They are very thin and a bit bigger than a credit card. They will easily store in a wallet. Can be used to start a fire in bright sunlight.Just wasn't over all impressed with them for the price.

Just what I expected.
I bought these to put in my Bug-Out Bag and EDC as emergency fire starters. I only needed 3 or so, but I guess having a few extra can't hurt! I haven't tried to start a fire with them yet, as it's a little overcast today, but I think they'll work magnificently. I was pleasantly surprised by how powerful the magnification on them is. Fits perfectly in a wallet and doesn't take up space or add unnecessary weight to my emergency kits. Also, I was very impressed at how quickly they shipped. Amazon said they could take 3-4 weeks to deliver, yet they came within a week of me ordering them.EDIT: The clouds cleared a little bit, so I used a lens to burn a leaf. Worked like a champ!

Where there is smoke there is fire, not always
This credit card sized magnifying glass work well to magnify things so that you can see them better. I bought this to put in my emergency survival kit to start a fire by focusing the suns light or to see a splinter better for removal. I have not been able to start a fire yet. I can get some smoke but no flames and I'm pretty sure this is due to a flaw with my technique and not with the product. Maybe the sun just isn't bright enough where I live, I bet it would work great in the dessert. This is thinner than a credit card and fits nicely in my wallet without adding bulk. Each one comes in a cellophane sleeve to protect it from being scratched when not in use.

They work fine
Nice quality, each with a thin protective sleeve. They arrived faster than I expected. These are perfect for my wife when we go out to dinner and she does not want to put on her reading glasses. This helps her to read the fine print on the menu. My son got a hold of one and piled up some dry tinder and with a clear sky was able to start a fire with them. So overall I would say they lived up to our expectations.
