The SpikenzieLabs Calculator Kit, is an electronics kit that makes a working pocket calculator that can add, subtract, multiply and divide. The electronics is easy to solder through-hole parts. Assembling the case is also part of the fun. It is a styly set of laser cut acrylic pieces. The SpikenzieLabs Calculator Kit is another one of a kind, 100% original SpikenzieLabs kit! Once assembled, this kit not only has the modern laser cut acrylic "wow", but a little bit of a throwback to the days before pocket calculators had LCD displays. Six "old school" seven segment LED modules set in true SpikenzieLabs fashion. Once the PCB is soldered, and the laser cut acrylic case is assembled, you will notice the buttons have an awesome click when pressed. A fully functional six digit calculator that is as useful as it is attention grabbing. Every maker should have one on their desks! Put away that smartphone, it's time to use a real calculator again! Also featuring another industry first by SpikenzieLabs: Seventeen reverse laser raster floating captive button tops. Tools and supplies required: Soldering iron Solder Safety Glasses Snips Hex driver

Not for beginner solderers, I found out...
Fun but more difficult than I thought it would be!

no skill soldering? no problem!
i got this as a fun project with my kid, and she had fun getting the components together while i soldered. i have had very little soldering experience, but by the time i was done, the joints were looking much better than the start. the clear case provides a great way to see the progress i had made.it was a great learning experience with the daughter, and she thinks its awesome!the only downside is there is only 6 digits which limits the real world usefulness, but daughter uses it for her elementary level math to verify her work, so thats good, and you would not get this kit for real world usefulness, it is a proof of concept, having some fun type thing. if you want a great calculator for calculating, get a casio, if you want a fun family project, get a spikenzielabs calculator.

Nice, But
Like: Simple to solderDislike: No manual, pretty much guessing where everything are suppose to go, peeling the plastic protector off those buttons? not fun. Also a LED display? i found out after the fact that spacers were suppose to go under the LED display. was to late once i put them on the board.Overall, it is working, glad it is, just wish it had a Manual attached to it so we know where everything are suppose to go
