A very dependable, comfortable pen with style.
I bought my pen two years ago and have held off writing a review until I could do so with experience and not just based on first impression. This pen is solid. It arrived quickly and was packaged in a sturdy elongated triangular box with a printed description of the woods used in its making. Visually it is quite attractive in its simplicity, the wood is well finished without being overly polished and the metal appliances are well matched to the wood and add to the visuals. The pen has a solid heft which feels comfortable in the hand and allows it to be comfortable over a long period of writing. The mechanics of the pen are well machined, it disassembles and assembles easily for cleaning. I have used both cartridge inserts and the refillable piston cylinder, which it comes with, with equal ease. The pen writes smoothly, effectively and with a clean flow of ink through the nib. No mess, no fuss and no blots. After two years of daily use I have not had a bad moment with this pen and I would not hesitate to buy another.

A really unique, beautiful pen but...
Very attractive pen. Too small for me so I have given it to my wife. She likes it but feels the nib is too broad would like an extra fine. The nib is very smooth however and the pen is beautiful. I just wish I could get other nibs. Addendum: Since writing this review I've discovered that the small #5 Knox nibs from Xfountainpens.com fit the section and feed perfectly. I was able to get an extra-fine nib that, while not as smooth as the one that came in the pen, was very acceptable replacement. It was smooth, and easy replacement and very affordable (about $7-8). Hope this helps.

Looks are deceiving
Beautiful pen and craftsmanship. I recently change the cartridge with no writing success. I tried several different cartridges with the same results. I have a cheap $10 fountain pen, which I have no problems with cartridge change.

Very Happy I got this
I am really glad i got this pen. It writes very well with Noodlers Black Ink, with no skipping what so ever. I did have a question for the Seller and they responded the same day I E-mailed them. One Review commented that the pen is Small. But Oddly enough the pen is a little smaller than some of the other pens I own when the caps on the nib but went the cap is screwed on the butt of the pen and your writing it's longer than all my pens. Also when writing the pen has a very balanced weight to it when you properly put the cap on the butt of the pen.

She loved the way it writes
Bought this for my stepmother along with the Allegory dark colour scheme for my Dad for X'mas. She loved the way it writes. They also loved the history of the wood used to make them. She said she couldn't wait to take them out when they have to sign documents together, since they look very stylish and elegant.

Great pen, lousy packaging
I purchased this pen for my husband as an anniversary gift (both 5th and 6th wedding anniversaries have "wood" as either the traditional or the modern gift). He loves it -- it writes smoothly, fits his hand well, etc. He has had it for three weeks now and he uses it almost every day. He would recommend it wholeheartedly. I am knocking a star off of the review because the pictures show the pen coming in a nice carrying case. It doesn't. It comes in an extremely cheap and shoddy envelope. So, if you're giving it as a gift, you will need to find a better way to present it to the recipient since the packaging is awful.

The one pen I'll make sure I never lose!
My husband ordered this as a gift for me on Mother's Day from our two boys. It's incredible. I don't want to write with anything else. The carving is beautiful too. The pen is extremely smooth to hold. It really stands out because it looks so interesting, not because its flashy. I was a bit apprehensive about the highly contrasting bands of color when I first saw it, but I'm used to it and quite fond of the appearance now. I would have been very hesitant to order something like this online because I would have wanted to see it first and write with it - which is why I thought I'd write this review, just so that others need not feel apprehensive. It's divine!
