Big bang for 4 bucks
Ok, I'm kinda hooked on low cost, high power flashlights, I've got 4 now, and I think this one is the leader in lumens per dollar. Nice, tight focus feature, from a squarish zoom to a wide circle of luminosity. Clean parts and finish, switch is solid, nothing tacky about it---*except*---instead of a brand name like "Cree" it states on the side "Made in China". C'mon, really? (Mfg. needs a better marketing dept.!) Compared with my other 1x AA torch, a 2 yr old NEBO TAC50, this one is WAY brighter, in fact it may be brighter than my 3x AAA NEBO Redline which is rated 220 lumens---this might actually be a 350 L unit. All this from one standard alkaline battery. Tremendous value in a basic flashlight!

Ordered two.
I ordered two for a camping trip. Both will be mounted on bicycles (still haven't figured that out yet)...The build of the flash light is decent. I like that it takes one single battery and that it has strobe, however, I compared these lights with my previous Planet Bike 1Watt LED bike light and, well, the CREE Q5 3W is no brighter than the Planet Bike light... All three lights were tested with Energizer 2400mah rechargeable batteries.I am currently testing how long a full charge (with same batteries) will last in both CREE lights. I will post results soon.UPDATE: August 30 2013Pros: Very bright for such a small package, Zoom option is a +, fits in pocket, only needs one battery. High/low/strobe optionsCons: Not waterproof; has rubber O-rings but the lens to front cap can still let water in. Same goes for the moving/zoomable front part, which is not sealed. It is small so it can wiggle it's way to the bottom of a bookbag, tool box etc... Use the clip to keep it in a easy to reach place. Conclusion:I love this little light and would definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone. This is a lot brighter than most bike lights at half to 3/4 of some prices out there.******Smart tip: If you're worried about receiving a defective light ONLY purchase items that say [fulfillment by Amazon] This way you are guaranteed a replacement or a refund.

Good price, good little light...
I purchased this as a durable backup to my "Zebralight H-52AA"...not that it will ever come to that. But, I digress...The other "Backup" light I had was a cheap "Harbor Freight" $2 AAA flashlight that chewed through batteries and was a pain to use. I gave it to my son for him to play with and replaced it with this flashlight.PROS: Seems durable, Metal case, focusing light, good illumination, 3 lighting settings (including strobe).CONS:1. Concerned about damaging the focusing lens as it sticks out from the body pretty far.2. No option to disconnect the battery with a 1/4 twist. Only possible by taking off the cap or removing the battery. (Spoiled by my H52 I guess...lol)3. The switch seems to have two functions...to turn the unit on and off with a full click, and to change the light style (hi, lo, strobe) with a half click once the unit is turned on.However, doing a full click performs both functions. For example:Full click to turn on...unit starts in HI mode.Full Click to turn off.Full Click to turn on...unit starts in LO mode.Full Click to turn off.Full Click to turn on...unit starts in STROBE mode. And it just continues to cycle that way. You never know what mode you will be starting the light in once you turn it on.But..you get what you pay for...And for the money spent, this seems like a great little flashlight so far.I won't use it much because my H52 is my ride-or-die primary, but I will be tracking to see the output and how much parasitic drain it experiences over the next few months.

Comparison of LED flashlights
I just purchased one of each of the six compact LED flashlights offered by Amazon with Prime shipping. The average cost was $5 - $6. The good news is that all of them worked fine and there is very little reason to favor one over the others. I will provide brief Pros and Cons on the individual product sites. This CREE Q5 flashlight is a "mini" (some sold under that name are not). i really like the design and manufacture, although some threads appears to be bare aluminum on aluminum, which may eventually gall (seize up).PROS: 1) Good focus adjustment, 2) bright, even with just a single AA battery.CONS: See comments above.

Quit After Two Days
It appears that the voltage circuit fried within 2 days of purchase. The light would turn on, but the LED was so dim it's not usable. You get what you pay for-- unfortunately, I got even less. If you want dependable circuitry, get a LifeGear or a more established brand.

Did not receive a flashlight as described
The description mentioned a 3-mode switch with a low and strobe setting. The light I received does not have that. The switch is simply On/Off. Although the light beam is variable; at full focus, you can see a "square" image of the LED on the wall...it looks sort of like a circuit board. Very distracting. Even for the price, I am annoyed that they may have sent the wrong light, even though they were labeled differently. Then again, maybe they are misrepresenting the product in their description.

Great little torch in the palm of your hand.
Nice small compact Torch light. Works much better than some phone app. Has three modes bright, dim, and flash. The 3 modes can be easily toggled via the large thumb button on the back. Blind, Normal, and Annoy are how I would describe the 3 modes. This little light is blindingly bright. We needed some small flash lights for trick treating and for camping they are bright and when focused will illuminate at a distance over 100 yards. It will drain a battery if left on overnight this should be expected due to its high intensity and usage of a single AA battery.

great waterproof light for price and size
bought 2 of these - both worked fine. looks and feels well made. I tested for waterproofness - immersed for 30 min in about 5" of water - still shining, not a trace of water inside when inspected. amazing amount of light for the size - compares to double D cell incandescent lights with reflectors. useful focus from cone to spot (actually can see the image of the LED on the wall)

Mini torcia 3w

piccola e potente.
