This book is great. It is full of Beatles songs that we all know and love, and the arrangements are FANTASTIC. Background: While I personally consider myself a beginner player, having started playing stringed instruments as an adult and putting in maybe 1.5 solid years of practice, I think that as far as music instruction books -- at least for the Uke -- I am an intermediate. Almost all of the sheet music I have seen for Uke is just lyrics and chords, and maybe a line of melody if you're lucky. Basically a "fake book" like any other, but with chord diagrams for Uke. Kind of pathetic, really. I am certainly not a good enough player to layer together melody and chords on my own, so a book like this that arranges the melody and chords together is just what I want. If you have progressed past the point of playing chords and strumming, this book will give you lots of material to work on, with results that are worth the effort you put in. Five solid stars. If only there were more uke books like this.

There’s no other book out there that even comes close for other artists, let alone The Beatles. I was brand new to the ukelele, this was a skill level much higher than where I was, but absolutely within reach. They’re beautiful arrangements, and they made me a better player almost right away. You can feel yourself get better. As far as I’m concerned, this book is the Bible for good finger style ukelele. And if I gifted a ukelele to someone, this book would go along with it

Yes, this is for fingerstyle playing on a ukulele but be aware it must be a ukulele with the standard high G tuning. If you have low G tuning, which is pretty common on tenor ukes these days, this will not work for you. If you follow the tabs the G string will be an octave lower than intended and not sound right. Having said that if you have an instrument with high G tuning the book is pretty good as many other reviewers have said. It is challenging if you are just starting out or a player that normally strums chords, but with practice you will have some fun. PS: Another point I forgot to mention... the book is presented as appropriate for beginners as well as experienced players but there is no information about how to finger pick. Hand position and technique is not presented. How to read tabs is not covered. It is possible for anyone to figure it out but if you are new to the ukulele it will take time. There is interesting background information about each song which I enjoyed. PSS: I just found one page in the back of the book that provides good information about tabs and notation. It is concise but very useful. So there is information about tabs!

My book came a little mangled in delivery but no matter. These are great sounding arrangements! Look this book title up on YouTube and you can hear all the songs in the book as played by the author/arranger. If u are a guitar player picking up uke as I am, u have the chops to play this little instrument and just need something to help u hit the ground running. This book provides assessable quality sounding finger style arrangements you can get under your hands and start performing great stand alone uke tunes right out of the gate. Loving this book. Beautiful and playable! By the way, if you also Want to strum along and sing - cause there is nothing wrong with that either - this book also provides the lead sheets with lyrics and chords after The stand alone arrangement of each tune. Best uke book ever!

I don't write many reviews. But felt compelled to praise this book - mostly because I did not expect to love this book. As a lower-intermediate player (playing for just over a year) I find this book perfect for my abilities. I can usually learn a song in about 1 hour (by learn, I mean that after an hour I can stumble my way through the song by memory). It will still take many days or weeks to really get good at it. But the songs are wonderful. I also really like the size and fonts used in this book. The physical size of the book is larger than most others that I own, and the fonts are larger - makes it much easier to read the tabs. Even though we all know these Beatles songs through and through, I still find it helpful to be able to hear the song played as it has been arranged. Well, Fred has made that available for all of the songs in this book (I don't think most people know this). On youtube, under the channel "Fred Sokolow - Topic" you can hear each and every one of the songs in this book played exactly as presented in the book. Thank you Fred. I wish more authors would do this. You can also go have a listen to see what these arrangements will sound like before you buy to see if they appeal to you. So glad I bought this book!

I am so happy I bought this. It has the lead Melody notes with words, the chord notes, and the tab all at the same time. It makes it really easy to read and play. Then some songs have the words with the chord letters above if you prefer to play that way. Each song typically has a paragraph of how the song was written or some kind of history with it. This one of the best music books I have bought and I have bought several for all kinds of instruments. I wish they made all music books like this. Buy it! You will not be disappointed.

This is a very competent book for people who know how to finger pick and know ukulele. However, I just wanted something that would allow me to easily play some Beatles songs without lots of practice. Haven't found one yet, but I know it's possible to create such a songbook. Regardless, this is a fine book for people who have some devotion to becoming proficient on the ukulele. For those who want to just strum some easy chords--well, this may not be for you. This is not a beginners books.

As someone who only picked up the ukulele in the past few months after a few years of playing classical guitar, I wasn't into singing and strumming so I picked up this book. This is exactly what I wanted. The ukulele as a solo instrument. The arrangements are definitely challenging, but after some practice they're quite fun. I added a video of my favorite segment of "When I'm Sixty Four", which I think really illustrates what a great arranger Fred Sokolow is. Definitely planning to buy more of his ukulele arrangements.

Arranjos muito bons, mas a versão para kindle é muito ruim!!! As partituras / tablaturas aparecem em formato de foto e mesmo abrindo em um computador o formato é muito pequeno. Impossível acompanhar a partitura pelo kindle, tive que transcrever tudo para poder acompanhar as músicas.
