Ballistic - Ecks vs. Sever [DVD]

Antonio Banderas and Lucy Liu do a good job. Banderas gives a performance like many of his others, with a bit of humor thrown in. Nothing wrong with that. Liu shows real martial art skills (done without wires!) beyond her performances in Charlie's Angels. In 2002, she may have been at her absolute peak of screen attractiveness. The movie is violent, with little humor in its story. Maybe people didn't expect such a serious and violent movie from Banderas and Liu at this time in their careers. Today, compared to current movie fare, it seems like nothing, however. The script could use some editing to make things a bit less confusing at times. I needed to re-watch to clarify some parts. The documentary included in the extras tells how much effort went into this movie and includes enjoyable interview material with the stars and crew.

I love this movie. It gets trashed a lot but if you just want to be entertained and are looking for a good action movie this is a fun and entertaining action film. It doesn't try to be anything else.

I watched this movie back when it first came out and used to have a framed poster of it hanging in my old apartment. I recently re-watched the movie on cable and enjoyed it again! I think I know why this movie got so many bad reviews and it has nothing to do with too simple of a story line. Really? That's the complaint? An action movie with a simplified story line...surely there have never been any of those before! No, I think many people didn't like this because of the casting. You have a male Latin lead with an Asian female lead, and "the white guys" are the bad guys. That's why people didn't like this movie. There were some great action scenes in this film, a great soundtrack, charismatic actors and a story line that didn't get in the way of the action. This was a great film, and they should cast more in a similar manner.

When I first saw this film, I kind of said "eh!", but then I thought about it. The plot is straightforward, but believable. Antonio Banderas puts in a really good performance, as does Talisa Soto. (Lucy Liu, after the film wrapped, said that she stood where the director told her to.) I'd classify it as a chick flick,but I could be wrong.

I love this movie. I haven't seen it since I was 13. I don't care if others don't like the film but I like it cuz it got action and thriller. Antonio Banderas and Lucy Liu are amazing in this movie. I like the scene where they fight. And that one scene when she was shooting. All I know is that this movie is a classic and I really enjoy watching it again after so many years

The movie has action with Lucy Liu and Antonio Banderas. The movie flows with a diabolical plot from a shadowy figure who wants the perfect assassination device.

This is an easy movie to lambast, but I won't take that route--it rates 3 stars for the simple reason that it accomplishes what it sets out to do: kick-butt action scenes and snappy one-liners.Banderas and Liu are simply cool. In the movie, they get to be cool with guns. It's not a film that makes you think, or even one that you have to really pay attention to, but it is exactly what it claims to be: an action film that goes ballistic.Bullets, explosions, hand-to-hand combat, thin plot, lackluster dialogue--the ingredients to 90% of all action movies. This is one for people who like Banderas and Liu. I do, so I enjoy the movie enough to buy it, and give it three stars.

Action vom Feinsten mit den beiden Topdarstellern Antonio Banderas und Lucy Liu. Über die Handlung muss nicht viel gesagt werden, ist bereits ausführlich beschrieben. Gute rasante Actionszenen, darauf liegt der Schwerpunkt des Films (Schießereien und Explosionen), wer so was nicht mag, okay für den sind Dramen wahrscheinlich besser. Ich finde ein kurzweiliger Film zum abschalten, ohne groß den Menschen mit irgendwelchen Problemen und Sorgen zu belasten. Der Showdown ist für den Actionfan einfach nur herrlich, hier kracht und explodiert es am laufenden Band, eine richtige Orgie.

This film crept out of nowhere - no adverts, straight to DVD/VHS, and onlythe (also good) Gameboy Advance games to even suggest that Ballistic: Ecksvs. Sever existed.It's surprising that this didn't get tonnes ofattention. Starring Antonio Banderas and Lucy Liu, it's got the big stars,and it's certainly got the action. When I say action, I mean some of themost enjoyable action sequences I've ever seen. Guns, explosions,martial-arts, and even humour all play a part. You'll laugh out loud whenyou're not sure you should have, and you'll be glued to the screen asbullets fly (aswell as bodies) all over the place.That's not to saythat the rest of the film suffers. The script is very well written, withenough twists and turns to make your brain melt with confusion. There's agood deal of humour, as I've mentioned, so you'll never be bored and neverlose the plot too much.A stunningly under-rated film this. I suggest see it now, before itbecomes a cult classic and copies are like golddust.
