Empire Pewter Beaded Dumbbell Rattle

I bought this item as a rattle for my grandson when the sterling ones proved unacceptable due to the noise of the rattle, etc. Loved this pewter one, sound was good, rattle appeared sturdy. My grandson held it and loved it, so I was happy.Then the rattle slipped out of his hand and dropped onto my tile floor. One end of the dumbbell broke off. It had been merely soldered onto the post. He did not fling the rattle down onto the floor; he simply dropped it. I gathered it up and e-mailed Amazon's seller, "Silver and Crystal Gallery" to report the breakage. They replied thusly:"Unfortunately, this item in not durable enough to be played with and dropped... I really apologize, but if you would like, you can send it to us and we can have the manufacturer solder it back together but we will have to charge you for it."I then told them that the above information should have been put into the description of the rattle, because I have given many silver and other metal rattles and had never heard of a rattle that cannot be "rattled" -- why put the noisemakers inside if they are to be merely looked at?The seller then said that they would place that information into the description of the rattle. I have not seen it in their information since they promised to place it in there.HOWEVER, they did eventually refund the money I spent with them. I have to give them credit for that. I had to expend a lot of time and emotion before that happened, but it did eventually happen.I will not buy from them again.

Love this classic rattle. Perfect for formal pictures and practical as a toy. My grandson loves his new rattle. Best part is that it doesn't need much maintenance.
