Not really sure.  Possibly a thin fiberboard, but it's covered with a hard formica-type finish, so it's hard to tell.  I must say though it's very sturdy and not heavy... maybe 25-30 pounds; real wood of that sturdiness would be heavier.  When I ordered it, I thought it may be a bit rinkey-dink, but upon opening the box, was surprised at the quality.  I love this thing.  Tons of out-of-the way storage.  If you're going to buy one, make sure you have at least 3.5 inch space between the center of your door's hinge pin barrel and the wall.

Question 3

Is it possible to hang on the INSIDE of my pantry doors, even though the hinges are on the outside? Can you add extra hinges on the inside to hang it?

The implements provided to hang this product only attach to that part of your hinges that contains the hinge pins.  In that your hinges are on the outside of your pantry, then the Cabidor would have to be hung on the outside of the door.  Only way I can see for the product to be installed inside the door would be to rebuild your door jamb and refit the door so it swings inward.  Seems like a big project and probably not worth the time, expense and effort.  There are other options you can buy that hang those vinyl-coated wire racks on either side of the door.  Some screw directly on the door and some hang from the top of the door.
