The Allagash

My partner, Brian, and I paddled the Allagash this past summer (2006) for the second time. We brought along "The Allagash" by Lew Dietz. Each night, sitting around the campfire we turned on Allagash-TV; that is, we read, with fire light illuminating our world, from Dietz's book. It's like we were right there paddling through history!

What an amazing book -- Lew has an engrossing writing style that is both historically accurate and engaging. I would recommend this title to anyone that is interested in the history of Maine and conservation.

Bought as a gift for my father. He is very happy with this book.

Old fashioned wilderness goodness. History laden, interesting dramas. Pulls you right into the woods to a back-in-the day time when the wilds were still wild.

excellent first hand writing of the river... a must have
