BRO18NG Sure Heat Burnt River Oak Vented Gas Log Set, 18-Inch, Natural Gas

A few years back I bought a freestanding outdoor wood fireplace. Early on we converted it to LP gas with a round burner unit designed for a Chimnea but rated for outdoor use. The results were adequate. When I recently moved to a house with natural gas I had the plumber hook up a designated line for the fireplace for convenience and to avoid the whole tank changing thing. The result looked more like the blue flame from my stove than a campfire so I got on Amazon to find a replacement. This thing is amazing in both realistic look and heat output. It looked so good my plumber asked for the model number so he could get one too. It comes with a grate also and easy instructions on how to place the logs. I can't testify to how well it will hold up to the elements but the one I replaced that was supposed to be for outside was totally rusted so it can't be too much worse. Now if I can just figure out how to install a conveniently located on off switch for the gas so I don't have to move the whole thing to open and close the gas line! I will be buying it's baby brother for my inside fireplace for sure.Update: It has now been 6 years and this set still looks perfect and is going strong. I do protect it in the winter from snow and ice but all summer and fall it is exposed to the elements. A really great product and still so realistic looking.

I seldom write reviews, but felt obligated since I read many many reviews of this log set before I bought it. After much research I can say that this set is priced very well. I purchased the 24" set and am very happy with the size and appearance of the logs. Like many reviews above, one of my logs arrived broken, however despite this there are so many included logs that it was not a concern at all. I have to disagree with any reviews stating the directions are difficult. I am a fireplace fanatic and was sad that I had to convert my wood fireplace as a result of a poor drafting chimney was discovered after buying the house. I mention that because the look and ambiance of the glowing coals created by the included sand and ember package looks excellent, very realistic.Like many I did experience an odor during the first burn, which disappeared after about 2 hours of continuous use on the first day. I would agree that the included gas tube is a bit difficult. I elected for the $15 home depot flex pipe like many simply for piece of mind and appearance. I was able to buy a black flex pipe that you cant see when the fire is lit.Long story short, for the price you cannot go wrong with this set. Take your time, read the directions and you will be very happy with the result

This is a fantastic deal for the quality. My only issue was the “bendable” hose they provide which was nearly impossible to bend in the direction I needed. Eventually it crimped and I tossed it for an actual flexible hose with 3/8 connections. The set-up was easy if you can operate wrenches, thread sealant and follow directions. We didn’t have a smell during the first burning but there was a smell when lighting the second time. The glowing embers are really nice and the logs actually give off some heat which was a pleasant surprise. Overall, we love our new addition and highly recommend it.

The media could not be loaded.  I love this one! It's cheap, simple and very effective. Installation was very simple. The only problem was the absence of ember glows and manual in the package. Two logs were slightly damaged, but you cannot really see it, while logs are placed in the fireplace. No one understands, that this is gas logs, and the wood is not real. Such effect is available with ember glows. The only unreal thing is that logs are not burning. )) The fire is very beautiful, while turning the gas valve on the low flow. It is good idea to have a decorative gas valve with a key next to fireplace. You can find one here, on Amazon. Also, the gas tube was short, so I had to get one from the local store.

Love this product. After reading some previous reviews regarding confusing installation instructions, I took their advice and had my propane provider do the install after running the propane line to the fireplace. This is a vented natural gas log set, so you will need to purchase a Safety Pilot kit. That being said, this log set comes as a manual light, meaning you have to turn on the gas/propane and the use a lighter and then reach in to turn it off. If you want to keep it manual (do you really?) get P/N CVS303, BUT if you want to be able to use a remote (yes, yes), get RVS304. I called Sure Heat and confirmed I could convert this to a remote. Since this is vented, make sure you open your damper before turning on the fireplace. Once you are done, turn off the fireplace, but leave the damper open 3-5 minutes to keep any smoke from coming in. As others have said, when you first fire up the logs, there is a slight smell, but it quickly burns off. I highly recommend this set. It's a terrific value for the money - and the ability to make it remote activated is a win win.
