Sidewinder Slide

Our kids love this slide. It is rugged, sturdy, handles serious pounding of active rugrats, and doesn't overheat in the blistering sun. One important note: Make sure you get the two supporting pieces of wood (NOT INCLUDED!) as even as possible. If you don't, you've just created a potential hazard, as the combination of the crack in the slide and the increased angle resulting from misalignment make the turn a potential Falling Kid Zone. Do NOT attempt to skip the wood supports- you NEED them! Without them, the slide buckles immediately. I'm fairly handy with tools, and this thing still took more than an hour to complete, but mostly due to the challenge of getting the supports even. A post-hole digger is your friend here unless you have a poured pad or rubberized mat under your playground. Great slide, worth getting. Would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Purchased this slide for a 5 ft platform for my 6 yr old daughter, she loves it. Installation tips: 1- when building brace for the middle section add 1 and 1/2 inches to left side if you are standing at the bottom of slide, This will reduce the lean mentioned in other reviews. 2- The ground here is hard so i put a cross member about 3 inches off the ground and buried patio stone to rest on. 3-Again instead of digging i took a 18" 2x4 and made a stake drove it in at the front plate of the slide and screwed slide into stake. See pic. As far as weight ! am 6 ft 180 and i slid down just to make my daughter laugh (who dosen't like to hear that sound) no movement from slide. She's happy so I am happy.

Ours looks like maybe it got warm and warped before it got to us. The surfaces where you screw the two sections together were wavy so they didn't join together easily. It was a struggle getting the screw holes lined up and then I had to crank the screws hard to get them to pull the plastic slide halves together. The seam is still a little gappy but it seems like it will hold. Also, you have to supply your own wood and build the support stand. It wasn't hard to do, but just like hooking the slide halves together, I found that the support brace I made exactly to the specs in the instructions, didn't line up quite right with the slide. The plastic is flexible enough so with a little muscle I got it to work. The good news: the kids love it. They are 2 to 7 years old. It's nice and slick and seems like it will be durable.

The slide itself seems fine but I wish we had realised how tricky it would be to install before we bought it. Installation requires making up a wooden brace (2 'feet' with a horizontal cross bar) for supporting the slide midway down its length and also 2 long stakes for bracing it at the bottom. These are NOT provided with the slide. Then the brace and stakes need to be sunk a foot or more into the ground. Now, if you're like us, we don't know exactly where our irrigation lines and drains run. Typically, we broke a drain and an irrigation line whilst digging the required holes and then had to dig up half our back yard to repair this. The slide is still not installed but the irrigation lines have been repaired and rerouted. Just something you should know before buying this item...

We built our deck height at 5'. That proved to be too tall, even though the description says that would work - in fact, that's why we bought this slide. The 2x4 support also needed to be custom fit, as their dimensions didn't match up. Trial and error. However, after having the slide installed for 2 months, the seam in the middle split apart, ripping out the flange that gets screwed together. So, the slide is shot. Never would have bought it had I known that any of these would be issues.

We placed this on our wooden play set with a 4 ft high deck. Installation was easy. The slide comes with instructions for building a support midway through the slide. So, you will need wood and tools to build the support. The slide would not be useable without it! I was nervous about the curve at first. But, my 3 and 4 year old do well with it. I see no risk of them falling off! The slide itself is a little narrow. So, most adults would not fit on it!

Purchased the same slide from another listing, thought people should know how flimsy the plastic is where the top and bottom halves meet. The plastic is pretty flimsy, but not bad for a plastic slide which is what I ordered. However the 2 pieces (top half and bottom half) need to be bolted together. The plastic was so misshapen that it took a lot of effort to twist the two pieces into shape enough to attach. The plastic is splitting where it is bolted together after only 1 day of use. It says it requires one 2x4 for mounting, but doesn't mention that you have to cut this 2x4 down including angle cuts and bolt it together with screws not provided with the slide. Then you have to drive an 18" 2x4 stake into the ground. Kinda difficult to do in our soil so I had to dig a hole even to plant the stake.

Slide comes in 2 piecies & includes the screws for mounting. Only the bottom half of the slide was delivered. When i check the tracking information it shows that the slide was delivered but only the bottom half of the slide was delivered. Order was incomplete!

J'ai commandé ce produit afin de l'installer dans une Coop d'Habitation, mais la qualité du produit était très décevant et ne rencontrait pas la norme de sécurité. Les trous pour joindre les deux morceaux de la glissade ne correspondaient pas ensemble et la qualité du plastic était trop fragile. J'ai donc dû retourner le tout avec votre accord avec le code de retour que vous nous aviez fourni. Par contre j'ai eu un très bon service pour la livraison et le retour.
