I feel like this cheaper antenna does just as good as the more expensive spypoint antenna.

I have one spypoint antenna and three of these antennas. 
I am very happy.

Is this a MiMo antenna?

Hello Andy,
This is not a MIMO antenna.  It is designed to provide a remote antenna for a cell phone or trail camera that can be mounted higher, or away from the cell phone or camera, to help find any available signal.  It is passive and provides no additional amplification of the signal either outbound or inbound.

Does this antenna require a metal ground plane?  In other words, must this antenna be mounted on a metal plate to work properly?

No it does not. Mine is mounted to a tree and using it with my cell cam

Will this connect to a wi-fi camera that is not cellular? trying to connect a camera at the end of my driveway and my wi-fi signal too weak

Accepted Answer

No it will not.  Wifi and cellular operate at completely different frequencies.

You're much better off ditching the wi fi camera and replacing it with an IP type camera.  They're available on Amazon and they're cheap.

Why should you ditch the wifi camera?  Two reasons

1) Wifi cameras are easily "blinded" by "bad guys" who are using cheap wifi jammers.  Don't believe me? Google "Wifi jammer".

Secondly, unless you're planning on operating your camera from a battery you'll need to run a wire out to the camera anyway, so run a single cable that can carry camera power and camera data.

Installation is easy if you're reasonably handy.  The cable that you'll want to use is known as CAT 5 cable.  it has 8 wires inside it, four of which can be used for camera power and ground, while the other four can carry camera data.

Personally I'd bury the cable a few inches below the ground--a length of PVC pipe would be a good idea, since the cable you pick is most likely not going to be recommended for below ground use
