Pure pleasure
This is a great book for people who are willing to go the extra mile in self learning to create beautiful textures. It will help to know how to read a crochet pattern before hand. Suits the adventures type who is happy to be challenged.

Simple, lovely designs, *charted only*
These are not elaborate crochet designs but beautifully detailed. They are charted without written instructions. That's pretty typical of a lot of Japanese crochet designs. There is a detailed description for each charting symbol in the back. Great photography and quite a few things I'd like to make.

Designs are beautiful, but patterns are incomprehensible
Even though I've been crocheting for many years, crochet charts are new to me. When I try to find details on how to do the crocheted puff entrelac stitch, for example, there's only a chart. That would be okay if somewhere in the book there was an explanation of the chart symbols; there isn't one. I can find some of the symbols online, but not all of them, so this book is pretty much useless. I expect better from Nixon Vogue and Tuttle.
