Product Description Pulling John is the universal story of a champion's glory in an unsung sport, who after 25 years of success is now burdened with the inevitable transformation of aging. John Brzenk, the legendary armwrestler, who works as an airline mechanic by day must decide whether to leave the sport he was raised on or wait to be defeated. Pulling John takes a journey to the far corners of the world, where men define themselves by trying to beat him. Voevoda from Russia, Bagent from West Virginia and Yoshi from Tokyo are the colorful characters who have been raised on the legend of John Brzenk. In a philosophical and thrilling ride through human nature, told via the offbeat sport of Armwrestling, Pulling John culminates at the Zloty Tur Championship in Warsaw, where Bagent and Voevoda have the chance of their life, to dethrone the conflicted Brzenk. Unbelievably fantastic film. I was amazed
Unbelievably fantastic film. I was amazed. Totally surprised. The characters are amazing. You've got the id, ego and superego.John Brzenk is the superego: a humble guy who has a phenomenal gift. He can beat ANYONE in arm-wrestling. And he is only 6 feet tall and 209 pounds. Most of the guys that triumph in this world are well above 6 feet and weigh over 270 pounds. John is known as the "Giant killer."The new up and coming hot-shot from the States is Travis - and he represents the id. He is as obnoxious as they come. The other character is the phenom from Russia/Ukraine. He is sophisticated and hard-working. Steady. And ego driven. There is character development and a great, suspenseful story. I love this movie. Some other favorites of mine: "Strictly Ballroom," "Being There," (which is the original Forrest Gump) and "The Queen Of Versailles."

Who knew a movie about arm wrestling could be so fascinating
I gotta say, I know I know, why would anyone watch a movie about Arm Wrestling right? I had thought that I'd give this a go and I was not disappointed. Bear in mind, I'm a fan of Stallone's "Over the Top" movie from the 80s.The story line is excellent and the film does a great job not only covering the sport of competitive Arm Wreslting, but also following the up and comers that are looking to take on John Brzenk. This guy Brzenk is a total beast; top of his game for over 20 years. The film follows his life and addresses the mindset behind the sport and being the number 1 athlete of your sport as well. The amount of respect the younger athletes have for Mr. Brzenk is very clear and pronounced and it's great to see the way they look up to him. The man truly is the inspiration of the sport and the goal for every aspiring arm wreslter.Great flick and I'd recommend it to anyone

Who do YOU root for? The Softspoken Legend, The Cocky/Confident Challenger, or the Complex Mammoth?
Ive been in and out of following professional arm wrestling for the past couple years. This movie reminded me why I became interested in the first place. I can tell you, those expecting a meat-headed gorilla festival- will not be catered to. Although it seems like nothing an intelligent person would ever be interested in (I'm more Voltaire than Michael Vick), the depth of character development will intrigue even the most jaded intellectual. Three personalities and three heroes to this film... reveal what type of person you are. Whether you side with level-headed champion Brzenk, the cocky challenger Bagent, or the philosophical giant Vouvod, you will learn about you own concept of glory. Well Done.

A major positive surprise.
When I saw the trailer for this video I hated it in a heartbeat, but my stepson wholeheartedly recommended it. I have learned over the years to trust his heart so I hung in there. I was very well rewarded!I have absolutely no interest in professional arm wrestling, but that just happens to be the background to this highly human, moving story.Highly recommended.

being a puller myself years ago i was very happy to stumble onto this docu-movie. it does not dissapoint. john brzenk IS arm wrestling. from the time i first saw him as a kid on wide world of sports to the now still amazing 50 year old puller, he has maintained class and dignity in a sport that sometimes falls short of that. john was simply unbeatable in his own weight class and found that his fame would grow by taking on the champion heavyweights. often outweighed by 75 to 100 lbs john just kept bringing them down, one by one. filmed by a pair of russians i had a good idea of the probable ending, but there are no losers in this film. pound for pound the greatest right arm ever in the entire world.

Excellent video, nothing like it, inspiring
I simply don't understand how any one person can dominate a sport for 25 years, and who by the looks never did roids. I have always suspected that strength is not always judged by the size as proved by john. I still can't comprehend it, but I have seen bulky weightlifters who have lost to much smaller muscled guys. I think this is why large weight lifter rarely compete in arm wrestling comp. because they don't want there actual strength and explosive power compared. They are selling the shell and not the strength. The best comparison is dog sledding in Alaska, John has wolf muscles, the ones that can pull a sled for thousands of miles! (Reference Jack London)

An American puller the best the world will ever see
One of the greatest documentary’s I have ever seen, hard to imagine anyone not liking this. Having competed a small amount on a professional level myself I feel I can appreciate Johns story more than most. For John Brzenk to compete in different country’s and dominate their best pullers in exhibition matches is really inspiring, these guys are tuff even at a state champion level. I believe he holds a genus book of world records

Surprisingly Interesting
On a recommendation from a friend I decided to check this out on prime. What I found was a surprisingly interesting documentary about a sport I knew very little about and a guy that I knew nothing about even though he was one of the most dominating champions of any sport ever. Good documentary that I think most will enjoy.

Non genuine item.
Not an original DVD. It is a copy in a cheap and nasty box and the box and DVD print are awful. Very disappointed.
