Holds up, nice features
This is one of the best heat guns you can buy. A decent heat gun with a non-replaceable cartridge, and non-replaceable carbon brushes can cost $50+ easily. Replacement carbon brushes, which are likely the first thing to go on any tool are around $10 usually. A $50 gun can last about 500-1500 hours of use, then you toss it. A cheap gun can burnout in the first day of use. The constant thermal load over 1400 watts puts a lot of stress on motor windings, which is why most heat guns are only 2-6amps. If you notice, the amperage of this gun is 12 amps, that is very impressive for a heat gun. That is what makes this gun worth the extra money. If you know you are going to use it to do all of your siding, or all your window frames, or all of your trim, or kitchen cabinets etc, then this is the gun to get. 12amps vs 4 amps, if they both put out 1400 watts of power (1500 amps is the max for a residential socket), then the 12amp gun would have theoretically 1/3rd the chance of burnout. The flat back-rest is nice, as the tip of these guns gets burning hot to the touch, like scalding melt-your-flesh-hot.Hope this review helped!

Simple, tough, heats fast
Heats fast. I haven't put a temp probe on it but it seems true enough to the rating based on how it handles minimum shrink temps. I like the adjustable air intake. I usually leave it either on the lowest or highest intake setting and not fiddle with in-between. You can adjust your nozzle distance and movement patterns to regulate the shrink. The attachments are great too and I've used two of them extensively. They fit tightly and don't fall out. It cools fast as well if I put it on the cool setting and sit it on its stand while I'm finishing up with something else. Simple, rugged feeling, it looks like it will come apart easily if I ever need to replace anything, and parts are available. Seems like this is going to be in my tool box for a long time.

TOO HOT for Plastic Shrink Wraps
Too hot! I've burned myself and multiple items using this. I returned the first gun I received thinking it was defective but the new one I received was also too hot. The vent adjustments help with the temperature but even at the lowest heat setting, this gun is way too hot to use for plastic shrink wraps which is my intended use. I have to use this in pulse mode i.e. on 2 seconds, off 2 seconds to cool, on 2 seconds, off 2 seconds to cool, etc. which I'm sure would render this appliance dead in a month. :( That's why I threw this in storage to hopefully use again when I've forgotten about the whole ordeal! Maybe I'll have better luck?!?! Doubt it though!

If you need a heat gun - this is it. Buy it!
This is the first heat gun I have owned. I had been needing one for some time and had been looking at the ones in parts stores and home improvement stores and the like. Then I found this one. What I noticed first is that is capable in many heat gun applications. It has a base. And it is made in the US - that is still important to me. I have used it now several times and I am impressed with how well it is made, how easy it is to use, and most importantly, how well it works. I am thankful I chose this product for my purchase.

Built sturdy and performs well
This is an old school heavy duty heat gun I use for broadcast applications. It replaced similar model I used for 20+ years. It heats quickly and has an adjustable hands free stand. It needs to be rugged as I take this to all my remote sites. Not a cheap plastic throw away. I love it and well worth the price.

Great tool
I worked with one of these at my past job and it took a lot of abuse and kept working. Bought one for home use and use it for heat shrinks and it works great. If anything it is to hot. I paln on using it for other projects so hence the need for the high heat. If you were just using it indoors for smaller shrinks, go with the lower heat model. Great quality and appropriate price even if it is expensive!

Having just returned my second to Amazon* I think I ...
Having just returned my second to Amazon* I think I can say without reservation that the two that I received were not of high quality. There was a wiring problem with the first that tripped my circuit instantly, and the fan on the second one died after about 3 x ~15 minute sessions over the course of 4 weeks. I will not be requesting a third.*Amazon customer service was a solid 5 stars, as always.***UPDATE*** - On a whim, I unpackaged it prior to returning and plugged it in, and voila! it seems to work fine now...I updated to 3 stars. I'm wondering if the air intake is particularly suscepible to flotsam in the air and will be tinkering with adding a DIY 'filter' to prevent anything unwanted getting in there. I will update later and bump the stars up if this one lives for a while.

This was advertised as a robust heat gun. It is no better than my Home Depot cheapy.
I was looking for a heat gun that threw some serious heat and with power. This gun isn't it. I would like to return it, but just haven't taken the time. Hope it's not too late. This thing does not have a powerful blower, and the heat output is no better than the homeowner variety of heat gun.
