From sub-zero music experience to playing guitar. Incredible product!!
The Chord Buddy is amazing. It actually works and is made with quality in USA.I have sub-zero musical experience and now I am able to actually play the guitar. The guy on the video has an awesome teaching style and techniques. As he suggests, I review the lesson plans on the DVD many times. Just as he says the the musical stuff--notes, chords, sequence, ect... really begin to make sense the more you watch. He has broken down the learning process in 2 steps. First you learn 4 different strumming techniques (from easy to difficult) and play songs with four chords using the Chord Buddy. This is kind of the wax on wax off technique used in the Karate kid movie. The strumming and developing the muscle memory in your fingers and get them used to working independently. I am slow, but within the second day I was playing the first strum pattern and 4 Chords using the Chord Buddy and it actually sounded good. After you have muscle memory and don't have to worry about strumming, you begin to remove 1 of the 4 Chord Buddy buttons at a time and play the Chords yourself. This the the best way to learn guitar. Instead of being frustrated, after I play, I usually say to myself I cannot believe I am playing that.

ChordBuddy
I am a intermediate player.I know these chords.I am getting older and my hands getting slower. So I bought this to use to save a little on my tired hands. I can play many many songs with just these few simple chords and that is why I purchased it and I was hoping my child would see the ease and give it a try, I hope they do. this is a good learning tool for novice players that allow them to play songs in just a few moments, something very few systems do.Many get fustrated tring to play, this item takes away allot of that fustration in learning hand positions and allows them to play a song immediately. Great product for the novice, and the intermediate player and some older players with age may find this simple solution of tired hands easy to compensate for that problem and still play.( one thing I must mention, do not let this be a crutch for learning the correct chords and finger positions. It is so easy it will distract that fact from your learning and make it easy to push one button instead of learning the fingering and you will rely on it to much,Please learn from it and don't rely on it all the time) Still a great product and will indeed help you to learn the finger positions one chord at a time.

Product Description Somewhat Deceptive
The ChordBuddy is not a bad product but I believe the product description could be a little more clear. First off the ChordBuddy itself is pretty much as described except for the following. They do provide some basic requirements your guitar must meet in order for the product to attach and work properly but they need to be a little more detailed. The main thing I encountered was the lack of info about how the action of the guitar can drastically effect the usability of the product. The action of the guitar is basically how hard one has to press on the strings in order to produce a clear sounding chord. Most acoustic guitars, especially the more inexpensive ones, tend to have a fairly high action out of the box. I have moderate arthritis in my fingers and hands and I assumed the ChordBuddy would be just the ticket to provide me with the ability to more easily press on the strings to produce the various chords. As it turned out I had to apply a lot of pressure squarely on the buttons to get a properly sounding chord. Even without any physical issues like arthritis I believe many people especially younger children would encounter the same problem. In the video included with the product it is explained the pads that contact the strings can be replaced with a different thickness to help solve this issue but of course you won't find this out until you have already purchased the product. As a side note there was no mention of how one can obtain the alternate type pads. I personally solved the problem by restringing my guitar with some ultra light strings which lowered the action enough to correct the problem. The other issue is with how the product is represented. The description states that you will be able to start playing songs the first day. This part is true as some simple 2 and 3 chord songs are presented in the first lesson of the video and you are taught step by step how to finger and strum them. The kind of deceptive part is that a book with 100 songs is also included in the package and it is alluded that you will be able to play them just as easily as the ones in the lesson plan. The hitch is these 100 songs are presented in standard sheet music format and only show you what buttons to press for the chord changes in the song, there is no indication of when to pick and strum the songs as is shown in the lesson plan. This is easily seen if you compare the song "Ring of Fire" in the lesson plan to the same song in the song book. Possibly it is assumed that after completing the 2 month lesson plan you will learn how to read and apply the sheet music format to the guitar, but I personally feel this is too much of leap to make for the average person that is just starting out.All things considered ChordBuddy does teach the very basics and point the beginner in the right direction to get them started just don't expect it to deliver completely on all it's promises.

Playing
After putting my guitar away three years ago in sheer frustration, I played it today, really played it. I am older and my fingers don't work so well. I bought the Guitar Buddy and my husband installed it last night. I really like it and I can see I will actually make progress using it. That being said, it is not as quality a product as I would have liked. When we tried to use it the D chord button kept sliding. We literally had to glue it in so now I will not be able to remove it in order to progress to using my fingers without the button. I suspect though, I will probably always use the Buddy due to my fingers. If it was not for having to glue the button, I would have given the item a five star rating. I will buy this product again if I need to.
